The Monroe Point Lighthouse was built in 1905. This was a working Canadian Federal Lighthouse until 1962 and is located in St. Anns, N.S.

Writers, songwriters, artists and guests from around the world have enjoyed the peaceful serene landscape with mountain and ocean/bay views.

Enjoy the beautiful stars at night, the amazing sunrises over Kelly’s Mountain and the stunning views of St. Ann’s Bay. It’s a magical peaceful feeling being in a historical lighthouse. Suitable for 2 adults.

The space
Stay at one of the most famous addresses in Canada, the Cabot Trail and at our decommissioned Canadian Federal Lighthouse.

This Monroe Point Lighthouse has been renovated to keep the historic industrial feel of the lighthouse with adding some updates that bring in a costal and rustic atmosphere.

The lighthouse is cozy with a king size bed in the bedroom. The rooms are open and lots of light. Tranquil sea colours and a coastal feel throughout. You will find the kitchen and bathroom in the original portion of the lighthouse. From the kitchen you can go up the two sets of stairs to the top of the lighthouse. There is a open concert dinning space and living space. Off the bedroom there is a doorway that will lead to your deck that is facing the beautiful St. Anns Bay and Kelly’s mountain.

Our lighthouse is over 100 years old, so with this comes all of its unique features and natural surroundings. Wake up to the ocean waves, have coffee on your front deck while the sun rises over Kelly’s mountain and watch the local fisherman haul up their traps. St. Ann’s Bay is beautiful peaceful and tranquil.

Walk our natural beach at low tide, find all kinds of treasures, sea glass and pottery that have washed up. Walk down the beach and find a secluded sandy beach area, bring a chair, beach towel, a little picnic and enjoy.

Cape Breton is beautiful. Our lighthouse is located on the bay in St. Ann’s, where you will see the most spectacular views, and the stars at night are the brightest you will see. Sometimes living in beautiful areas comes with some small inconveniences. Because of our mountains and valleys we can have some areas of the island with low cell service, including our lighthouse in St. Ann’s

There is so much to see and do in St Ann's Victoria County and all across Cape Breton. We are located directly on the world famous Cabot Trail just 10 minutes from the Trans Canada Highway. There are many hiking trails, waterfalls, artisan shops, local restaurants, museums and music venues all across the island.

We have created a local online guestbook where you can find the trails and shops and restaurants. If you have any questions please send us a message, we are happy to make suggestions.

St Ann's Bay is also famous for our world-class artisans. From May through November, you will find these folk busy creating stunning pieces in all kinds of media — you're welcome to watch them work. You are just 10 minutes from the Gaelic College, Wednesday night Ceilidh’s and they have a great gift shop.

We are newly retired, and just recently purchased a lighthouse in St. Anns, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It’s been a lifelong dream to live in one. We love to travel and meet the local people and listen to their story.

We have been fortunate to have traveled throughout the years, as far away as Bali, Thailand, Italy, Germany, Spain and China. Been to most provinces within Canada and to most states in the USA.

We purchashed the Lighthouse with the intention to share this beautiful place with others that Love lighthouses. There is actually a large following of people that love them as much as I do. We just started our Airbnb business in August 2018 and we have been having great results.

On the off-season we plan to continue to travel and explore this amazing world we live in using Airbnb along the way. Being owners of an Airbnb home we understand the work that goes into hosting and maintaining one. So we treat every home we rent with the same courtesy and respect.

During your stay

With CoVID-19 our guest interaction has changed. We love meeting our guests and we love to hear how their day was exploring our beautiful Island, many times over a glass of wine.

Unfortunately our guest interaction has to be limited as we do have a family member that has a compromised health condition.
We are still just a message away and are here to help with any questions.

If you have a photo ID already posted that’s great, if not please take a few moments to upload a picture of the guest (you) checking in and the name of the second person staying. This helps us with knowing who is coming for our safety and yours and also the person booking the trip must be the guest. No third party bookings for insurance reasons. We never ask prior to approving a booking, but we do ask at least a week prior to coming for a photo.

As posted, due to the location of the lighthouse it would be unsafe for infant/children/pets. There will be no exceptions.
