Where you’ll be

New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand

Lemon Street is in an old character filled part of town with some lovely restored villas close to the NP Boys High School and NP Girls High School . There are great cafes and restaurants within walking distance, as are the beaches, walkway and Te Henui River.
Te Henui Cemetery is just down the road and a great place to wander-amazing gardens, and you can get a good understanding of the history of the area reading the names of the early immigrants and their family history. Dont get surprised when you see the large ornate Muslim mausoleum in the middle. That family played an important part in our early city development.
The Te Henui walkway is just down from Lemon Street and you can also find a wonderful local pottery club which sells it's members wares during most weekends.
You are walking distance to 4 hotel complexes-the Plymouth, The Novotel, the Devon Motor Lodge, the Auto Lodge. They all have bars and restaurants. The Auto Lodge is popular in winter with locals for screening big rugby games on the large TV screens.

I am passionate about helping make our visitors' stays as exciting and enjoyable as possible. I love living in my hometown of New Plymouth (my family goes back 6 generations here in Taranaki) and love to promote and share all the great sights and places we have here. My husband, Blair, and I are both health professionals so value the outdoor activities eg walking, cycling, tramping, swimming, paddle boarding as well as chilling out in the beautiful gardens and picnic spots around our town. We are into sustainability so try and keep our footprint light on the planet and this is reflected in our villa with eco- friendly linen, toiletries and cleaning products, and recycling. We use the principles of permaculture in our own garden and household and have recently converted our house to solar power. We are recent grandparents and know the importance of keeping this planet safe for our families in the future. I am also interested in complimentary health and integrative medicine so practice mindfulness, yoga, meditation and work and focus on wellness and injury prevention as part of my practice. Blair is budding "muso" in his spare time and our street community has regular "jam sessions" where we "sing and play like no one is listening" but have a great time anyway! We would love to share our local knowledge and sights with you. We have only just started as Air BnB hosts but are keen travellers so believe we have a feel for what other travellers are looking for.
