Where you’ll be

Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu, Québec, Canada

The municipality of Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu is located on the Richelieu River, south of Sorel, in the RCM of Pierre-de-Saurel, part of the Montérégie administrative region. The population of Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu is about 1900 Rochoises and its surface area is nearly 35 square kilometres.

The name of the municipality recalls the first lord of these lands, François-Roch de Saint-Ours. The seigneury of Saint-Ours was created in 1672, and the parish municipality of Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu was incorporated civilly in 1859.

Since 1895, a ferry has been operating between Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu and Saint-Ours across the Richelieu River. This ferry gives a picturesque dimension to the journey of motorists and cyclists travelling around the area.

There are several old houses in the village with attic roofs or Victorian style. In addition, Érablière Saint-Laurent, Érablière aux délices des saisons and Cabane à sucre des Patriotes invite gourmets when it comes time to sweeten their beaks.
