Large, bright, fully-equipped, completely private, 1200 square foot apartment with open plan kitchen/living/dining room. The balcony off the bedroom overlooks a quiet bay of lovely Lake Vernon, and there is a comfortable queen sized sofa bed in the living room.

The space
Details matter when it comes to luxurious accommodation including high quality linens and bedding, bathrobes, and a thick and thin pillow for each person, top sheets as well as duvets, magnifying mirror, hooks on doors, and the use of rowing machine, weights and elliptical trainer in the exercise room below the apartment.

The cottage is on a 5 acre lot with a private 425 feet of waterfront at the west end of the lake, 10 kms. from Highway 11 and 15 minutes from Huntsville, with easy access on paved roads.

There is a multitude of activities nearby, including winter sports such as curling, ice skating, skiing, and snow-mobiling, and the wildlife including deer, and wild turkey, is lovely. (Aspen Wildlife centre is a good place to see orphaned and injured animals that have been rescued). Arrowhead Provincial park is great for glade ice skating and other winter sports.

The town of Huntsville offers live theatre, interesting shops and a variety of restaurants, several on the water. The Town is famous for its artist colonies and their studios are open for visits at various weekends and by appointment,

We live in sheltered Hoodstown Bay, at the West end of Lake Vernon, with beautiful cottages opposite. The lake bottom at the beach area is sandy and gently sloping.

We used to camp here when we first bought the land, when our children were little. Then when all the tents started to leak in 1986 we built the cottage as a holiday home while we lived and worked near Toronto. We came here to live permanently in 2005 and renovated it for year-round living. It's paradise. In the winter we curl, ice skate, and cross country ski, play bridge, and socialise. Over the years, having lived in England, Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, we have had many opportunities to travel to other countries and feel very lucky to have become close friends with people of different cultures and races. We also think we know what makes guests comfortable and content, having been guests so often ourselves.
