Simple is beautiful. Lake water lapping at the shore and a cozy bungalow for shelter. Natural beauty with comfortable solitude. Swim. Enjoy tours of close-by wineries. This spot is just 26 minutes north of Ithaca and Cornell University and 10 minutes south of Aurora and Wells College. The changing seasons make this a year round treat.

The space
This beautiful building is the first of it’s kind. Minka is a Japanese term that means "home for regular people". The 348 sq. ft. space is ideal for 2 people, but a large day bed that pulls out into a queen size bed can accommodate 2 extra people.

There is well equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare your own meals. Equally important is the lovely patio which overlooks the lake and makes a great place for dining or enjoying your favorite beverage.

Where you’ll be

King Ferry, New York, United States

This is a friendly neighborhood made up of a mixture of seasonal and year-round residents. People here have a great respect for this beautiful lake and for each other. Although the cottages are relatively close, we all have a mutual understanding of privacy.

Please be aware that this is a very narrow, single lane road. There is a 5 MPH speed zone which we ask that you honor. not only is it a safety issue, it is the prefect way to begin to "slow down" and enjoy a relaxing stay on the lake.

I am a mother, an artist, an advocate for new ways of aging well. I enjoy bringing people together to share food, wine and conversation. For me, life revolves around relationships. When I travel I like to be with local people, eating where they eat and doing the things they like to do. This is why I created the Minka by the lake. It is meant to be a haven that helps people connect to nature, and to each other.

During your stay

I love meeting people and hearing their stories...when they WANT to share that is! It is important to me that my guests have the experience they came for. I try very hard to be here to greet new guests and if possible to see them off. If a special connection takes place and we have a bit of social time, great! If not, no worries! Enjoy your stay!
