The space
My guest Tord said this about the place:
"Nøss is an extraordinarily beautiful place situated on the no less beautiful island Andøya up high north in Vesterålen. Here the elements of nature all come together in one place – an endless horizon, mountains, eagles, breaking waves and even a beach right outside. The cabin is spacious and modern, with a breathtaking view as well as being warm and practical in every way, while still retaining that close to nature feeling. The host is friendly and open and knows everything you would want to know about Nøss and the surroundings. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience something unique and very natural".

Where you’ll be

Nøss, Nordland, Norway

The village of Nøss is in north of Norway on the west coast of Andøya in Vesterålen archipelago.
Situated north of Lofoten archipelago and south of the city of Tromsø.
The village Nøss is between the villages Bøgard and Nordmela on the road N822.
See the red house with turf roof, at the end of the village on the right hand side as you drive northwards and look for your house situated on the same property, close to the mountain overlooking the sea.

About Andøy; from the official tourist brochure:
Andøy offers spectacular and varied landscapes. Whether you like relaxing at one of the island's many white sandy beaches, or you prefer hiking in the jagged mountains - Andøy is the place to be! Follow set routes to a number of mountaintops, and take in the stunning views - or discover this beautiful region from your bicycle. Andøy also offers many lakes and rivers where you can go shing for salmon and trout. If you want to catch larger sh, then try deep sea shing. Another popular experience is paddling along the coastline in a kayak - getting close up to seals, sea-birds and other wildlife. The choice is yours!

"We visited this time during the winter, and experienced a real snow storm. Nature is powerful, and here you can experience it."

Andøy is the northernmost municipality in the Vesterålen region. The weather is as varied as the region itself. The presence of the Gulf Stream is the reason for the relatively warm climate we have here in Andøy. Despite the fact that Andøy lies above the Arctic Circle and is further north than both Kautokeino in Finnmark and Murmansk on the Kola Peninsula, the landscape is green and lush and we can enjoy hot summer days.

In the summertime Andøy is a welcoming place to be, with its bustling village- vibe, and the midnight sun that warms your body 24 hours a day. Situated along the coast, the winters tend to be fairly mild - compared to other parts of the country. Still - warm clothes are a must if you’re planning a visit during winter, regardless of whether your aim is to take stunning photos of the northern lights dancing across the sky, or if you fancy watching whales in the fjord.

His newly built house in Nøss is a workspace parts of the year and accommodation for tourists.
The starting point for much of his artwork can be found his origins by the rugged seashores within the Arctic circle. His affinity with landscape is evident in his work. He works to commission and independently, with galleries, architects, designers, and art directors, using a wide range of techniques.

In Oslo, he is a member of Lavetthuset Artists' Studios on Hovedøya, an island in the Oslo fjord. Lavetthuset is a historic building that provides workspace for six artists, and has a showroom and two galleries that are open during the summer months.

All the five members of the Tollefsen family work in different fields of art, craft and design. Although they live in different parts of Norway, they meet several times a year on the island of Andøya in the Vesterålen archipelago in Northern Norway. Together they run Atelier Nøss , a gallery and artists' studio on Andøya, which gathers the creative energies of the Tollefsen family.
