The space
I am renting out my room while I am away from New York. It has a full size bed, a sitting area and a table with chairs. Three windows face the backyard and south.
You will be sharing the bathroom, living room and kitchen with my room mates Jen and Shinya, who live in the other two rooms.
The building has a roof terrace with great views of the Manhattan skyline.
There is an elevator from street level to apartment level and a laundry in the building. I will be leaving my laundry card and laundry detergent for you to use.
There is also a gym in the basement. (separate business)

New York, United States

I love to live in this neighborhood because everything is just around the corner. If you go 10 blocks towards Manhattan and turn north you are in the heart of the Williamsburg around Bedford Avenue. There are too many things to list them here! There is a really good oyster bar, Maison Premiere, a falafel place Oasis, which has been there for more than 20 years, and the Whyte hotel, where people dip into the pool while having a drink at the bar on the top floor. You don't need to be a guest!
Right next to the hotel is McCarren park, which has a farmer's market every Saturday. There are lawns to lay in the grass, play grounds, a running track, a dog run, a pool.... It is fun to see all these different people going about barbecuing, running, fast walking, doing yoga, chatting, reading, laying in the grass, eating, strolling... even at midnight!
If you turn south, you are in the middle of the orthodox Jewish neighborhood, South Williamsburg. I love the chocolate factory/store there - Chocolat Michel Cluizel! There is also Have a Bagel, the famous expensive Peter Luger Steak House, and Gottlieb's. Among many other places.
From North Williamsburg and South Williamsburg if you walk to the water of the East River, you can take the ferry to Greenpoint, a Polish now neighborhood, Astoria, a Middle Eastern neighborhood, Manhattan, Dumbo & Brooklyn Heights.... while enjoying the skyline for just the prize of a subway ride.
My neighborhood, Williamsburg near the L train Graham Avenue stop, is less crowded than Bedford, but nowadays has a lot of nice places too. It used to be the home of the Mafia. So it always has been a safe place. ;-) There is still Fortunato brothers, an old time Italian cafe and bakery, with lots of old Italians sitting in there. You can get the best cannoli there. There is Brooklyn Standard, with the best vegan donuts, Lula Bean, this tiny coffeeshop with the best croissants, and Thip Osha, a four table super authentic Thai restaurant. They don't do delivery, you have to come and get your food yourself. :-) There is also Osakana, a Japanese fish store, where you can eat while talking to the chef at the counter, buy fish and meals to take home, and learn how to make sushi among other things in the backroom. There is a theater in the church on Maujer Street behind my building, 'And then She Fell'. Only at 9pm and 11pm. Interactive and Fun! Ammazzacaffe, Italian, a little expensive, but the food is unbelievable, with a backyard. There is a lot more, and there is Bushwick, a former industrial now young artist area, a few stops to the east on the L. And of course Manhattan to the west.

I have been told to be a great host for dinner parties. This is the first time to host travellers. So I am waiting for your feedback! :)

During your stay

I will try to be in New York when you arrive, or on your last day, or in between. But most of the time I am in New Haven for work.
