The Chalet is located high on Mount Iron and offers magnificent views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains. Set in trees, it is private and peaceful, accessed by a guest lift which will carry you and your bags up the hill. Driftwood has been lovingly hand built by the owners with artisan touches. Furnished for your comfort with a luxurious King bed. On the deck there's a la 2 person sized hot bath (with views to the mountains) for your relaxation & enjoyment of the starry skies.

The space
The chalet stands high on a hill, solid, romantic and private. It is open plan with ensuite bathroom, mezzanine for an extra bed and a separate dressing room. It is comfortable and welcoming and a great place to relax and enjoy the spectacular views. When you wake in the morning, you can enjoy these views from anywhere in and around the chalet, while enjoying a tea or coffee. Outside are decks to relax on with a large 2 person hot bath (with views to the mountains) for your relaxation, surrounded by lovely native kanuka trees. Simple food preparation facilities include: fridge, microwave, hot plate, kettle, toaster, pot, pan, crockery & utensils. Dish-washing can be done in the large bathroom sink (there is no sink in the kitchen-bench). It's a basic setup but you will find everything that you need for simple cooking.

Wanaka is a unique and beautiful place - outstanding visual landscapes in every direction. We are located on a hill which gives a grandstand view of jaw dropping, spectacular scenery. Hillhaven is in a residential area, close to town for meals at great restaurants or shopping, and direct access to walking and biking tracks. We are close to Lake Wanaka and the outlet of the mighty Clutha River for swimming or fishing.

I am a happy long term resident of this beautiful small town called Wanaka - a jewel in the southern mountains of New Zealand. I am passionate about the landscape I inhabit and with my partner Chud I have a lot of fun in the outdoors - lakes, mountains, valleys, rivers and beaches. All of these are our playground. At home we build things - we have completed a small 80 metre railway to the top of our property which will carry you and your luggage up the hillside to reach your accommodation. We live part time in a yurt at the top of the lift. It gives me much pleasure to share the chalets we have built with good folks from around New Zealand and the globe - and wish only for them that they can relax and take pleasure in the beauty we enjoy every day.
