Old Art Gallery which is now a luxury living space on the grounds of historic Killaghtee House overlooking St. Johns Point with its lighthouse, ancient ruins and lovely beaches. Ideally situated on Wild Atlantic Way between Donegal and Killybegs Fishing Harbour, beside Dunkineely village.

Carefully converted into a unique open plan contemporary living space (private 1100 sq.ft. building) for two guests with its original character. Check out our listing "Wild Atlantic Way Cottage" too.

The space
The space is essentially an art gallery converted into a unique living space. It’s a completely separate independent building on the grounds of historic Killaghtee House overlooking St. Johns Point, which was built in 1856. It still has the high ceilings and the lighting of the original gallery. It retains the brightly lit conservatory and high end commercial kitchen from the tea rooms. A brand new modern bathroom has been fitted.

The main living space used to house the gallery. It now has a luxury king size bed, a locker, a dressing table, two contemporary sofas, and a 50’ HD television with free sat channels, a blue ray/DVD player, and a premiem NetFlix account. There is a unique selection of wall art, which reminds you that it was once a gallery.

Adjoining this space is the conservatory which has a dining area and another comfortable seating area that is ideal for reading a book or simply chilling out. This brightly lit space also has a unique selection of wall art.

The Kitchen is fitted with high end commercial appliances, including a six ring gas hob, a large oven, and a refrigerator. These have been complimented with a Nespresso Coffee machine, a microwave, a kettle, a toaster, and a toasted sandwich maker. There are also plenty of glasses and crockery provided, so you can dine in comfort. All of the counter tops are stainless steel, so the kitchen has a really slick contemporary feel to it. Wall art has also been used in this space to add character.

The brand new bathroom has a bright and contemporary feel to it. It has been fitted with a really nice rain shower, a toilet, a wash hand basin, a unique mirror, storage, and a shaving point. There is plenty of hot water available and we provide luxury cotton towels, shampoo and shower gel for your comfort.

Blinds have been added to all of the windows in order provide out guests with complete privacy if they require it. The furniture has also been carefully chosen to add a luxurious and comfortable feel within the space. A modern heating system has been installed for your comfort .

The Artist's Cottage is thoroughly cleaned and serviced for each new guest. We have aimed to provide a hotel suite level of comfort in this space, while maintaining all of features and atmosphere of the original gallery and tea rooms

I love the outdoors, especially horse riding, fishing and wildlife. I am also big into computers and the way they can make everyday tasks easier for everybody. I also like to travel and see different places, especially in Ireland.

During your stay

We live in historic Killaghtee House, and The Artist's Cottage is located on the grounds of this house. We always meet our guests personally and explain everything to them from the onset. We are also happy to talk about the local tourist attractions and facilities in the area.

We provide an information sheet for each new guest, and guests are free to ring the doorbell of the main house and we are there to help them as best we can. We strive to have everything right for each new guest.
