The #1 dream cabin in the green mountains! Hot tub, sauna & outdoor shower included! Originally a big horse barn with bunk rooms, bathroom and and tack room! We sadly lost 90% of this beauty in a fire. but we salvaged a beautiful old cattle barn for the remodel! The build took a long time and every original barn board is back up in place! This is upscale cabin living (Wolf and GE appliances) with all the original VT rustic charm!! Minutes to Magic, Bromley, Stratton and Okemo! @bentapplefarm

The space

The barn is as authentic VT as you are going to get!!! Charming, rustic, calming, and comfortable. Located on a beautiful dirt road, the farm sits on rolling hills with stunning views all around you! Located 10 min to “town” and everything you could possibly need! There is a big grocery store, a health food sore, a butcher, hardware store, record shop, and a tons of restaurants! Our barn is a true hidden gem situated between some of Vermont’s best ski mountains!!

The subject of TV, book and magazine features! Including Cooking Channel, DIY, HGTV and News 5 Chronicals in Boston. Books include Cabin Porn, Cabin Porn Inside, Cabin Chronicals, Cabin Tripping and numerous other magazines as far off as Japan!! Brands include Orvis, GE, Blundstone, Yeti, VT Country Store and whiskey brands Slow & Low, and Stranahans!

Often described as being the most
relaxing, romantic, dreamy and unique cabin you'll ever stay in!!! This build landed us our own show called Backyard Goldmine & Unique Sleeps on DIY & Travel! You might have seen me cooking in this very kitchen on Hook, Line & Dinner for The Cooking Channel!

What could be better
than falling asleep in the green mountains and waking up
up to birds singing around you, or a fresh blanket of pristine snow while the embers still crackle in the wood burning stove?? We don’t think you will be disappointed;)

Just locate the hotspot (black about the size of a phone) and be sure it’s charged and turned on. It will give you a password on the home screen. Enter that and you are set! Please no streaming or you will eat up all the data!

Covid & Cleanings

It is your responsibility to keep our case count low! VT has been the model state throughout the pandemic. You will need to read up on the VT guidelines and requirements...Masks are not necessary to be worn on the property unless you come in contact with my family or another guest.

Our cleaning and linen fee is there to allow our cleaning lady to fully disinfect, clean, do laundry, fold linens and get the bathrooms and kitchen to sparkle! If you are the kind of person who understands ALL that goes into prepping a cabin with limited time for the following guest...Well, we want you! If you are the kind of person who will write a bad review because of the cleaning fee and what is STILL expected of you to do on check-out...Well, PLEASE skip this cabin. Airbnb has etiquette that is very different from hotels. YOU are expected to do A LOT to return the cabin to how you found it. This prepares the space so our cleaning lady can be efficient and do a proper disinfecting without picking up your food bits. For most people this is just general stuff that goes without saying when you return a house but for those who find this off-putting please find another place to stay. It takes everything we've got to get the cabins ready for you by 3pm so understand the struggle.

We have many rules you will be asked to sign on arrival. Note the reviews where they say I have "gone overboard on these." I do this because I was in a 2 year lawsuit with Airbnb over guests who invited all their friends off the beach onto my houseboat and sank it. I lost 2 years fighting, and 2 more rebuilding. I almost went broke because “I didn’t have my rules clearly visible.” Does it go without saying that you don’t invite all your fiends onto a floating vessel? Yes, it does…But apparently I actually needed to spell that out and apparently the reservation being capped at 10 “this is not a party boat” was not enough;) So now you understand why our rules are actually NEEDED.

PETS (well, dogs actually)
You pup must be on the reservation. We charge a pet fee to cover the additional cleaning and damage incurred by allowing dogs. We know you have a “good dog” but we have no choice here…

We LOVE our animals at Bent Apple Farm, but ALL our property damage has been a result of pets. We only allow dogs now and the pet fee is 150 dollars. Dogs must be crate trained and can not come to the property without. It is your responsibility to NEVER leave your pup unattended in the cabin even for trip to the grocery store. This is not not like a hotel that has a special room for pets! If your dog is not brushed well with nails clipped it will do significant damage to our cabin. If your dog is a chewer please leave him behind. You dog must be trained to not jump on beds or furniture or he/she needs to not come.

Be very cautious during hunting season to keep your pup close. At night/dusk be sure your dog is with you as we have coyotes and hawks, owls and even bears in VT. It is a risk you must be willing to assume if you desire to bring your dog. Also over the years I have realized EVERYONE says they have a “good, well behaved dog” but do you really in a new and strange environment? Think twice before you put you pup in a bad position and can’t have the vacation you deserve!

This is your space and your space only. Do NOT attempt to bring guests or even bother asking if they can come. They are not allowed. The only 4 people allowed to this listing are the ones ON the reservation. Now that’s out of the way…please DO enjoy this awesome cabin. It’s one of the most popular spots in VT because it really is a special little place! This was my home for many years but my family has grown so we are back in the farmhouse now:)

IMPORTANT... Luxury means different things to different people;)

If you are high maintenance skip it! If you want total isolation skip it. Our main house and run-in are not far off so you will see other folks and you will hear me out on the tractor... AND you for sure will get an unsolicited visit from our black lab!

Now a bit more about the barn…

This is one cozy little barn! I had a vision for this place and no stone was left unturned. I think you can see from the photos, a lot of time and energy went into this build! It’s been featured on our very own building show Backyard Goldmine for DIY...It’s as real and it’s rustic VT as you can get but you will sleep like a king, cook like a world class chef and relax in the giant claw foot tub like you deserve!!

This barn is perfect for ANY couple to get away, but two more can sleep comfortably in the 1970's camper attached to the kitchen. The Camper is enclosed in its own private wing and can be accessed through a secret door in the kitchen! Keep in mind the 2nd bedroom (that’s the only option I can select) is a real 1970s camper. It has a nice queen bed, but not much headroom. This addition is more for the low key camper type. Some people LOVE it but it’s not for the high maintenance couple as I mentioned before.

This is a BIG step up from "glamping" and while it's not full luxury it's as quintessential upscale Vermont as you are going to get in a real barn. The property is huge and you look out onto three rolling fields, a few mountains and our beautiful farm house off in the distance. Some folks have commented our house is a little closer than they imagined. Well, this barn and the run-in next to it come from a time when you wanted your horses nearby because they were used everyday! If total seclusion is what you are after this might not be the spot for you...But you WILL love it if you run out of sugar! Most folks actually find having someone within earshot is a nice thing as you can't see ANY neighbors:)

The stove, fridge and oven are all from the GE monogram addition...The best appliances on the market in my opinion. I’m a chef and these are my choice for a cabin over Sub Zero and Wolf. I will happily teach you to work the old Glenwood stove! You can even cook in there if you decide to take the VT experience to the next level. Ask me to send you a link on how to fire up with woodturning stove. It's not hard, but you will need a lesson.

The property is stunning! Converted from an old Morgan horse farm it goes on and on. You can do all the exploring, hiking, swimming, fishing or biking you want without ever leaving the property!
The views are almost 260 degrees from the barn yet you will feel nestled into a little vally between the mountains.

Magic Mountain is the best kept secret in VT and it’s almost in our backyard!
We love it!!! If old school skiing or summer hiking is your idea of fun...This is it! It’s steep, sometimes deep and everybody knows your name type of a place! We are 10 min to Bromley and 20 min door to door if ya want to hit Stratton!

The barn isn't for everyone...Its a real barn! However, it's my idea of dream living...So maybe it's yours as well:) The toilet is 100 years old and there are no mirrors in this house and no hairdryers! So let your wet hair down and embrace the VT experience!! Flatscreens you won’t find here! The best porch in the world for grilling, chilling and sitting in the hammock or rocking chairs yes! The most beautiful barn renovation you have seen...Maybe! A TRUE cabin experience? Yes!

Hot Tub:

The hot tub is up in the riding ring not the one attached to the farmhouse. You can inquire about that one if ya want but it’s only available if the house is not rented. That gives ya two hot tub options as we don’t mind sharing ours.

For your hot tub just pass by the sauna (tiny white cabin code 1267) and head up the little trail past where the farmhouse cars and trucks are parked. Pass through the little stone wall and past the apple trees with our vegetable garden on your right. You will come to the riding ring and there it is!! If ya want to set the timer for the hot tub on your way…That’s a good idea:)

YOU MUST SHOWER before entering the HOT TUB or SAUNA

The hot tub is brand new so please read up on using a cover lifter...You lift the front half over the bar and lift upward with the bar. When you arrive at the hot tub hit the jets on by turning on the LED screen. Try not to drag any dirt or stones in with you;) Keep glass away from the tub. A broken wineglass will ruin someone’s trip if they step on it! Return the cover to the way you found it and be sure the jets are off. It will shut down fully on its own so no worries if it’s still making noise!

.You MUST SHOWER before using the hot tub!!!

THE SAUNA - instructions inside sauna

(Door code is 1267 if locked)

1. The use of drugs, medication or alcohol prior to or during the sauna session may lead to dizziness or unconsciousness.
2. Please consult your physician if you are in doubt of your ability to use sauna.
3. No guests under the age of 18 are permitted in the sauna unless accompanied by
a parent, legal guardian, or supervising and consenting adult.
4. Please discontinue the use of the sauna if you feel light-headed, dizzy, or heat
5. Sauna sessions should be limited to a maximum of 40 minutes at one time.

The Pond: Swim and ice skate your own risk!

(please ask Ben if you can use the pond as sometimes it will not be available if the white farmhouse is rented)

• At no time is there a lifeguard on duty, you (the renter) are responsible for the safe operation of the pond and are responsible for all persons in your group using the pond during your stay.

• My use of the pond facilities during my stay involves certain risks, including but not limited to:

1. The risk of injuries resulting from tripping or falling over obstacles in the pond area;

2.The risk of injuries resulting from unsupervised divers and swimmers and skaters colliding;

4. The risk of other injuries resulting from participating in any action in the pond or on the ice in winter.

5. I recognize and fully understand that the above list is not a complete or exhaustive list of all possible
risks; the list only provides examples of types of risks that I am assuming.

In the summer you have a private outdoor shower! In the winter you have a regular indoor full bathroom with a shower/claw foot tub and throughout all the seasons you have full access to a shared sauna we just built and a beautiful new hot tub!!

You have a nice area out front of the cabin for grilling and watching the sun set out over the mountains.

If you wish to use our beautiful glenwood stove we ask you bring a stack of dry kindling! We supply all the logs you will ever need and starter sticks, but our wood is usually off the property and tends to be green. You are welcome to as much of it as you want but you will have a hard time lighting it if you don’t bring a bundle of dry kindling from home! If you forget to pick it up our local grocery store and hardware store have stacks waiting for you but keep in mind they close early!!

WiFi: we use a Verizon hot spot! Locate the device (usually down by the coffee table) and be sure it’s turned on. The network will pop up in your phone. Toggle through till you get to the password screen an enter whatever password it’s giving you. These are not blazing fast but they do the trick!

The Camper: this is glamping;) It’s not a bedroom...It’s an beautiful camper pulled into its own room attached to the kitchen. If you are a low key type of person you will love this space...If you are not, it’s not the right set up for you! The space heater is found in the cabinet overhead. Be sure to open it up fully before you turn it on.

Trash: Please throw your trash in the bear proof dumpster behind the barn set back into the field. If you can bring your recyclables home with you that helps us out a ton! If you don’t have room for em in the car you can put them in the attached garage on the porch of our farmhouse. Use the door that says “Trash”... Confusing I know!

Where you’ll be

Londonderry, Vermont, United States

Great little town with some new amazing restaurants and butcher shops, and craft-framers markets. It's as awesome in the summer as it is in the winter. Legit New England charm.

During your stay

I'm around if you want me. I'm happy to come over and give you a quick lesson on wood burning stove and to give you a quick tour of the place when you arrive. PLEASE be completely upfront about the number of people you plan on bringing. I take this very seriously and will send you right back to Boston or NY if you are not honest about this. Not a party ski house. No air beds and friends crashing for the night...Sorry, it's just not that kind of house.
