Where you’ll be

Imsouane, Souss-Massa, Morocco

Imsouane is famous for its fishing harbour with the traditional blue, wooden fishing boats and its magnificent bay, which produces the longest right-hand wave all over Morocco, maybe all over Africa! The fish from the sea at Imsouane is popular due to it's quality, since the water is not polluted by industry. Close to the harbour there are some cafes that serve this fish grilled. There are also some small shops where you can buy food and quite some surf shops that rent out surf boards.

There are two surf spots in Imsouane, “The Bay” and “The Cathedral”. The magnificent "Bay" is very wide and surrounded by rocks but it is completely sandy. The waves work on low to mid tide, on high tide the bay is completely flooded. From the quay wall you can walk all the way almost up to the line-up! If you catch the wave at the peak, you can surf the longest wave in Morocco all the way down the bay. After that you can walk back to the quay wall.

From the house you can see the other spot. It is also a beach break with some peaks on the right-hand side and some on the left-hand side. The peaks are well-defined, but the waves are faster than in the "Bay", so you will mostly see guys with short-boards. The spot works mainly on mid to high tide. So if you want to, you can go surfing all day long by switching between the two surf-spots.

The waves are pretty consistent all year round, with smaller waves during the summer months (June-August) and the biggest waves during the winter months. The whole year, the water is never below 17/18 degrees, with colder water in the winter months. During summer, the water gets so warm that you can surf with a shorty/shorts.

I fell in love with Imsouane and its beautiful bay in 2015 during a surf trip. With quite some effort and help from a lot of good Moroccan people, I wanted to create a place there where one can feel at home and on holiday at the same time.

I love music and surfing and watching movies.
