The space
Sleeps 8 people in 3 bedrooms (all with aircon) and a double sofabed off the living room, plus 1 fold up bed and 3 spare mattresses in loft space.

1 kingsize bed (or twin beds option) with aircon & ensuite shower room
2 double bedrooms (both with aircon)
1 fold-out single bed & 3 spare mattresses in loft space for extra kids (room is not full adult head height)
2nd shower room

1 double sofabed in own area off the living room separated by curtain, with direct step-free access to 3rd shower room & toilet.

Stair gate, baby chair, baby bath and baby-proof plates & cutlery available.

The kitchen is rustic but fully equipped with modern facilities including Nespresso coffee machine, double fridge freezer with ice dispenser (American style), dishwasher, food processor, slow/rice cooker, smoothie maker etc. Separate larder/pantry. Also a washing machine and a dryer.

The large living room includes two double doors to the garden, wood-burner, Sonos hifi system and TV and DVD player.

The 12x6m saltwater pool is 100% private, is heated (from April to October), has an electric cover, plenty of loungers (no need to get up early to "reserve" them with your towel!). Secured with alarm (note: pool not fenced off). Pool towels provided.

The poolhouse has its own dining area under a vine-draped gazebo with BBQ, outdoor sofa set, plus a fully equipped outside kitchen (gas hob, fridge, bar, sink etc), indoor and outside showers and toilet.

Child friendly, plenty of games, boulodrome (pétanque), table football, swing ball, gym mats & mini trampoline (trampette).

Pet-friendly enclosed property with fencing or wall all the way round.

The garden is not overlooked, with vineyards on two sides, a field behind the house and a wall on the other side and a view of Mont Ventoux from the bottom of the garden.

It has plenty of shade from mature trees with two outside dining areas – one under the huge plane tree and one under the vine covered pergola by the poolhouse – several olive trees, mulberries and tall cypress trees. A young but growing orchard - cherry, apricot, apple, pear, almond, and walnut trees.

And its own boulodrome (for pétanque) - sheltered in the daytime but gets the late evening sun perfect for a glass of Pastis as the sun goes down. Or just swing lazily in the hammock under the olive trees.

There is plenty of parking, private, off road, in the fully walled/fenced garden with electric gates.

Where you’ll be

Jonquières, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Our local village, 3km away, is Jonquières. The village is compact and bijou but still has 3 boulangeries (bakeries), 1 boucherie/charcuterie (butcher/deli) and a small but well-stocked Intermarché supermarket with petrol station as well as a wine shop (of course!), 2 banks, 2 pharmacies and a small Wednesday morning market. And a nice public pool with diving pool and baby pool.

The closest town is Orange, 20 minutes away, known for its Ancient Roman Theatre and its Arc de Triomphe (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites).

Other must-visit sites include: Avignon and its Palais des Papes; Vaison la Romaine and its 2,000 year old bridge and roman ruins; the antiquities markets, canals and 15 mill wheels of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue; Nîmes and its roman ruins and spectacular triple-level aqueduct Pont du Gard (also UNESCO Heritage). Or visit the Luberon valley famous for the Fontaine de Vaucluse and the perched villages of Gordes, Rousillon, Ménerbes, Bonnieux etc.

For cycling enthusiasts, Mont Ventoux ((1,909m) dominates the landscape and Bedoin, the starting point of the renowned Tour de France cycle route, 21km of uphill climb is 30km away, less than an hour (by car). Or just cycle to Chateauneuf-du-Pape for a wine tasting or along the family-friendly local cycle route running along the old train route to Sarrians village.

Markets are a fantastic way of absorbing the atmosphere, food and drink of Provence. Nearly every village and town has its weekly market, with some towns renowned for their bigger or more specialised monthly markets or annual fêtes. Try out the brocante/antiquities market of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the garlic festival in Piolenc, the olive market of Nyons, the truffle market in Richerenches, the lavender festival in Apt, or the many many wine festivals in all the neighbouring villages. Or the art and music festivals of Avignon and Orange.

Kids are spoilt for choice with nearby activities including tree-climbing, zip wires, and kayaking at several sites, Wave Island water park only 20 minutes away, and a crocodile farm (35 minutes).

Further afield you can swim in the Mediterranean Sea within 1.15 hours drive or go horse riding to see the wild white horses and wild black bulls of the Camargue wetlands.

Dave and I live in the wonderful seaside city of Brighton. I used to commute to London for work, which I also love. Now WFH.

I have travelled a lot, for work and pleasure. In the last years I've been to France, Barbados, Florence, France, New York, Beijing, Switzerland, Cape Town, France, Berlin, Toronto, Milan, and France again! My favourite place I'd like to go back to is Madagascar. And Vietnam. And Myanmar. And Mexico. And, and, and. And all the places I haven't been to yet.

I can't get enough of interesting food and culture wherever and whenever I'm travelling.

Sadly my business sent me on economy flights although I've stayed in many amazing 5* hotels (not on my own money obv) but then again, I'm used to backpacking and camping too.

I've stayed on business and with my family in great Airbnb places in France, Italy, India, Switzerland and the US and been blown away by the hospitality of strangers and the opportunity to stay in proper local places and discover new neighbourhoods.

With my husband Dave we now have two properties on airbnb and one on V r b o: one in Brighton, UK; one in Jonquières (near Avignon and in the heart of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape wine region) in France; and most recently one in Barbados which we hope people will love as much as we do. Our home from home. Your home from home.

You can find them on AirBnb:
- Jonquières, France:
Idyllic farmhouse big pool & garden very private
- Brighton, UK:
Lovely Edwardian house (sleeps 7) & beach hut

And on V r b o:
- Holetown, Barbados:
Luxury 7 Porters Court, Beach Club Membership, 5 min walk to the beach, Barbados
