You'll love our place not only because of its authenticity, but because of its incredible mountain beauty and remoteness. This house is over 100 years old and is a part of our family heritage. Cem has been coming here since childhood. The approach back then was a steep climb with a loaded mule. Today this is not necessary as a road connects the home to the village of Camlihemsin in the valley. This is a very special place and we can guarantee after a stay here you will understand why.

The space
We invite you to share the facilities and the beauty of our old family mountain home. Please do not expect a 5 star hotel, but do expect friendly hospitality, clean and comfortable facilities and a unique and authentic experience.
The home is available from April through to December with the exception of the first week of June and August when the tea is being harvested. The permanent residents of the home during this time, and therefore your on-site hosts, are our aunt and uncle, Yunus and Bedriye. Yunus and Bedriye welcome your visit and look forward to greeting you. Be aware that their English is limited.

The home is typical of the huge old homes of this lower mountain area. It is surrounded by tea plantations and Bedriyes vegetables and perched on the side of the mountain affording spectacular views and total immersion in nature. This location would also form a great base for further exploration of the Kachkar Mountains and the higher altitude 'yaylas' or mountain townships such as Pokut, Amlikit, Ayder.

Where you’ll be

Çamlıhemşin, Rize Province, Turkey

Quite literally the neighbourhood is rugged and mountainous. Be sure to bring your walking shoes to explore nearby villages and pathways. The pathways are generally traditional access routes and pass close by to other houses. A wave and a friendly 'merhaba' is all you need to say to any inhabitants or locals, they are generally all very friendly. Don't miss the old mill, views from the summit above the house (head for towers) and you may even stumbled across the old, deserted 'haunted house'. Walking down into Camlihemsin is very do-able, perhaps half an hour or so. Follow the path past the old mill if you are game, or take the road if you are not. Along the banks of the rapid flowing Firtina River down in the valley you can find opportunities for bathing and don't miss the old stone arch bridges spanning the rapids, they are magnificent. Try a fresh kette from the bakery down in the village while you are there.
