Where you’ll be

Shela, Lamu County, Kenya

In Shela, you can enjoy the 18km beautiful beach, practice windsurf, bodyboard, waterski, wakeboard and other water sports, and enjoy the different restaurants located on the waterfront.
You can easily take a boat to go and visit Lamu city, the capital of the island and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites listing. From Shela, you can also walk (3-4 hours) to the Kipungani camp located at the end of the beach, have lunch there and come back with a traditional swahili sail boat, a dhow.
Shela is also a great location to travel to the islands around: Manda (visit the Takua ruins and hike back to the beach), Kiwayu (an amazing island), Kinika (a coral island on the coral barrier, where you can enjoy snorkling), or even to the mainland (to have a one day safari and see hippopotamus and other animals).
