This 2 bed cottage is set amid vines & beautiful villages but only 1.8km to the village bar/restaurant, boulangerie, & shops. 9 km to the medieval wine city of St. Emilion. Perfect for relaxing by the pool or exploring the Dordogne or Bordeaux & its coast. Built in an ancient winemaking barn it provides superb facilities retaining the charm of the original beams and stonework.

We live locally, so we can organise baby sitting, free bikes & a free arrival meal. We offer escorted wine tours.

The space
CLEANING - minimum bookings are for a week with a large number for two weeks or more. Therefore, we do not have frequent changes or lots of clients. All cottages have dishwashers which we insist people to use. We ask for departure by 10.00 & arrival after 16.00 so we can do a “deep” clean. This includes dishwashing (again) plates, glasses & cutlery etc. Also sterilising/disinfecting all hard surfaces, such as kitchens, bathrooms & floors, etc. We also provide cleaning supplies as part of the arrival pack. The cottages are left open on the arrival day & there is a key-lock box. Any check you require in can be done with social distancing.

SOCIAL DISTANCING we are in a rural setting in small hamlet of 10 houses. It’s a 1.2 km walk through country lanes to the centre of the local village. This has a restaurant, bar, shop, butcher & pharmacy. The small medieval town of St Emilion is 9 kms away with lots of terrace restaurants. If you do not want to go into any big towns or hypermarkets you can be simply live locally using village shops. There are also out-door markets almost every day. There are beaches on 2 local lakes, also set in the countryside, but little used except at the weekends. Each cottage has its own garden and/or terrace with your own sun loungers, tables & chairs and BBQ. The only common area is the pool with its large sun terrace It has more well-spaced sun-loungers, tables & chairs etc. For this period, we are increasing the pool chemicals & ask people to use the pool shower before swimming. It is easy to use the pool for a swim & then return to your own garden/terrace for sunbathing & relaxing.

The maximum number of people if all the properties are in use is only 10.

THE COTTAGE - Accommodating four people (plus cots) this large cottage has both king-sized & twin bedrooms. The modern kitchen has a walk in pantry with an America fridge/freezer. There is a separate WC & the modern bathroom has a walk in shower & a full sized bath. Its well-furnished open plan living area is split level & leads out onto a large private walled terrace overlooking the vines. In addition to plenty of sun loungers & parasols around the pool the cottage's private terrace has a gas BBQ, more sun loungers, parasol & a table & chairs

Shared Pool – Each cottage has its own private terrace or garden but share the pool (4m x 6m). This has Roman steps and is walled & alarmed for child security. The pool terrace with plenty of sun lounges, tables & chairs for the 3 cottages is the setting for the owners' collection of eastern statues which are lit at night.

Facilities and Equipment - The cottage has traditional tiled floors and golden exposed stone work which contrast with the modern fittings and classic furniture.

• Facilities include 2 large sofas, both interior and exterior dining tables and chairs, gas BBQ, sun loungers, central heating and fans.

• Equipment includes a Flat Screen TV with DVD player and Cable TV/Sky & English & French Netflix), dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer iron, hair dryer, safe deposit box, WI-FI and I-Pod docking station. We have no French terrestrial TV. .

• All linen (including towels and pool towels), baby cots, high chairs & bikes are available for free.

Where you’ll be

Puisseguin, Aquitaine, France

We love exploring Saint Emilion (9 kms), tasting its wines & eating in the restaurants in its medieval squares. After relaxing on the poolside terrace walk through the vines to our village of Puisseguin (1.8 km), with its beautiful bar/restaurant, boulangerie & village store. The beautiful villages of Lusac or Montagne are only a five minutes drive away with their ancient churches, shops and various bar/restaurants. Alternatively, experience the local night markets for their cuisine & incredibly cheap wines.

Visit Bergerac (60 mins), the historic Dordogne town, with its vines dating back to Roman times. Enjoy Arcachon (90 mins) for its surfing beaches, oyster beds, water-park and Europe's largest sand dunes. Browse for “antiques” in the weekend junk markets. Explore Bordeaux (60 mins) the vibrant "grande dame" yet cosmopolitan city. Swim or build sand castles on Villefranche-de-Lonchat’s lake-side beach (20 mins). Visit the Medieval castles and the golden-stone towns of Domme & Sarlat. Experience the Neolithic caves & sites of the Dordogne valley.

For the more energetic there is the nearby, tennis, horse riding, tandem cycle hire, fishing & canoeing on the Dordogne. Golf is available in St Emilion and at the luxurious Chateau des Vigiers. For the more adventurous there is ballooning, sand-flying/para-surfing & rock climbing. Why not attend a French cooking course or a wine appreciation course in a fabulous local wine chateau?

We have been living here in the beautiful France vineyards for nearly 20 years running this holiday business. We still struggle with the language, well we are English. However, its a beautiful area with lovely people always ready to help. As our interests include food, wine, travel, history, markets etc we enjoy giving tine tours, making restaurant recommendations, providing the free arrival meals & helping with general tourist information.
