Our little log cabin offers a grand panoramic Denali mountain view. We are located just a short drive to Downtown Main Street Talkeetna and close to fishing creeks and hiking trails. We are situated in a central location between Anchorage/Wasilla/Palmer and Denali State Park/Denali National Park, which makes our place in Talkeetna the perfect place to start your day trips. — 2022 upgrades: new sofa with big ottoman, linen-cotton sheets, quilts, blankets for bed and sofa, towels...

The space
2022 UPGRADES: new sofa and big ottoman, new linen-cotton bedding, new cotton quilts, new fleece blankets, new wool blankets, new towels and bath mat, new pillows (soft and firm), new tea kettle, new water filtering pitcher for amazingly-tasting Alaska well water, an optional big mosquito net to cover the beds…

Our little guest log cabin is equipped with everything we could think of that our guests might need: two single memory foam beds (push them together if you like) with comfortable bedding; a little kitchenette with a 2-burner propane stove and little oven compartment; quality pots, pans and kitchen utensils; a bathroom with toilet, shower and towels; quilts and sheets, soft and firm pillows, and extra fleece blankets; porch chairs with cushions...

Because our property is powered by solar and a lithium battery/inverter system, we always think about electric power consumption. And while the cabin has everything you need (lights and electrical outlets of course), it does NOT have an electric refrigerator — instead the cabin has a quality ice box and interchangeable ice packs from our accessible-to-you chest freezer so you can keep your fresh snacks and drinks cool.

You can enjoy sitting in porch chairs on the deck, or on the benches in front of the guest cabin to enjoy the panoramic view of the Alaska Range, including Denali (formerly named Mount McKinley).

This guest cabin sits between our two log homes (where we live year round), so it is not a "remote" place — yet it feels very private, because there is nothing to obstruct your view, view, view of the mountains, including Denali.

Where you’ll be

Talkeetna, Alaska, United States

Catch & release rainbow trout fishing just down the road from us! Hiking trails nearby, and downtown Main Street Talkeetna just a short car ride away. We live in a quiet neighborhood with just a couple of year-round neighbors and a few weekend cabins. The neighbor properties are all about 5 acres in size which gives everyone space. No other neighbors in sight other than your hosts’ homes: Rainer's cabin is located to the left of our guest cabin, and daughter Debbie's family cabin is located to the right of the guest cabin; the guest cabin sits in the middle. It is a private place, but not an absolutely secluded wilderness spot (though some guests who come from big cities may perceive it so). From our guest cabin you have unobstructed views, views, views from our bluff property which overlooks treetops with the mountains of the Alaska Range on the horizon — not limited to seeing Mt Foraker, Mt Hunter, and DENALI, the highest mountain in North America! Only 60 miles away as the raven flies. This is a very special place.

Hello! My name is Rainer. I live in Talkeetna, Alaska together with my daughter Debbie, her husband, and their two kids. We are a "3-generation property". I welcome our guests, and my daughter helps me with the bookings. Since 2005, I am your host at My Alaska Cabin, which is a little log cabin we rent out to travelers from around the world. Our guest cabin offers an unobstructed, panoramic view of Denali and the Alaska Range. We love our community of Talkeetna, Alaska — it's a unique and quirky town with friendly and heart-warming people. Let us show you what Talkeetna hospitality is all about.

During your stay

Let us know if you have questions, or if you should need anything that isn't yet provided in the cabin, or if something stopped working the way it should. We are here to help you with Alaska travel ideas, and we are happy to share our way of life and stories with you. Just ask.

Use the AirBnB App to send a quick message. You can also find us right next door in our homes or in the garden.

There is also a little Welcome Booklet in the cabin that gives answers to a lot of questions past guests have asked over the many years we’ve been hosting guests (we started My Alaska Cabin in 2005).

If you are unhappy about anything, please let us know right away instead of perhaps writing a negative review; most issues can be helped. We want you to be happy travelers on your Alaska trip.

We are still mindful of COVID-19: Our AirBnB calendar blocks one day after every booking, so that the cabin can air out for a full day, and so that you can feel safe and breathe easy — and us too.
