With its own private entrance, this bright, newly renovated, south facing suite allows for Covid safety and quarantining. Plus you have 2 acres of outdoor space at your doorstep with spectacular views of Mount Baker.

There is a private fenced in patio adjacent to the suite which is partially covered and has a ceiling fan so you can sit and enjoy the natural surroundings rain or shine.

The space
The suite is a cosy space with a open concept kitchen/living/dining area, bathroom with tub and shower and bedroom. (Sorry farmstand is not for rent yet.) It has a industrial/boho /rustic flair that is nicely finished. (Rustic does not mean run down here.) The floors are polished concrete with throw rugs throughout. The space is laptop friendly and has wifi access. There is a TV in the bedroom with access to numerous channels including Netflix.

There is a barbeque and fire pit on the patio but you need to bring your own propane and guests are responsible for cleaning the grill.

Strathcona Farm is just over 2 acres on the south slope of Bear Mountain in Mission BC. We are walking distance to hiking trails and Westminster Abbey (a community of Benedictine monks) and a short drive to Cascade Falls and suspension bridge. There are some great local shops and coffee houses within a short drive, as well as stores offering all the necessities of life, but Mission is still a pretty small town. Mission offers trail riding, sturgeon fishing and some great hikes. About 45 minutes east of us is Harrison Hotsprings and Sasquatch Ski Resort.

Be aware that this is a rural area and there is lots wildlife. You may see deer, mink, bears, raccoons or coyotes. We also have hummingbirds, Stellar Jays, woodpeckers, ravens, hawks, bald eagles and a frequently visiting blue heron.

Some great local hikes include: Hunter Trail, Cascade Falls, Hayward Reservoir Trail and Steelhead Falls, and Bear Mountain (trail head is a 10 minute walk from us). If you are into technical bike trails check out Mill Pond or Red Mountain (about a 10 min drive from us). There are also some amazing mountain hikes like Cheam about an hour away.

As the founder of Strathcona Urban Seed Collections and the main driver behind the Strathcona 1890 Truck Farm, her mission is to inspire more people to grow a little. She helped build and plant the vertical food wall at RayCam Community Centre as well as a vertical teaching garden at Lord Strathcona Elementary School. She has run her Growing with Lego workshops at a number of venues. In 2015 she moved a house from San Juan Island to bare land on a mountain in Mission, BC where she is presently developing a small farm with everything from apples, plums, cherries and blueberries to hazelnuts, paw paw, hardy pecans and of course seeds and assorted veggies.

During your stay

We will be on site while you are here. The space is a suite, not a tiny house (that is our farmstand). Feel free to ask questions.

We offer a welcome basket with surprise goodies and a retro "wish you were here" postcard that we will mail for free if it is filled out.

This is a rural property and there is a gravel & grass driveway from the parking to the suite entrance.

We can help guests find local experiences such as horseback riding, sturgeon fishing, traditional soap making, cheese making, holiday wreaths and creating succulent planters.

Elopement packages can be arranged. We cannot accommodate weddings of over 8-10 people.

Every rental helps us add to our food forest and plant more diversity. The things we plant sequester carbon in the soil for a cleaner environment.
