Take a step back in time for a refreshingly sophisticated island holiday at the Ledgelets Cottage Collective. The serene atmosphere instantly lulls you into a soothing, restful state of relaxation. Wake to the chirping birds, and fall asleep to the choral tree frogs. The refurbished cottage interiors and pool terrace have been created with a modern vintage, boho-luxe vibe. To us, nostalgia is a very cool thing. Welcome, Pool House cottage awaits.

The space
The Pool House is one of three cottages in the Ledgelets Cottage Collective. It is the ideal setting for a relaxing retreat. This private cottage has a porch that is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, or your evening cocktails, while the lush and well-cultivated subtropical gardens surround you. We encourage you to soak in the reality that you may have just found your own personal paradise.

The Pool House features a master bedroom with king bed, equipped with 600 thread count linens, a spacious master bath with double vanity sinks, tub and shower. Expect all the comforts of home to afford you the opportunity to actually unpack and unwind in a civilized manner.

Your living room and dining room is combined to create one comfortable space, and also offers an inviting view to the pool and gardens.

From the living/dining room you move into your petite galley kitchen. New appliances have been installed. We have made every effort to provide as many of the essential needs one would require in the kitchen. If you require an item that is not found in the cottage, we will be happy to get it for you!

We have a provided a washer and dryer (with detergent and fabric softener) which is located just off the kitchen. You will also find a full BBQ grill available with utensils.

While we expect you to explore our beautiful island, it is nice to sometimes kick back and watch a little telly, mellow out to your favourite tunes or just catch up on social media...all possible with cable TV, blue tooth speakers and wireless internet. The wireless signal will reach all areas of the cottage and around the pool.

We have tried to think of all the necessary items that you will need while visiting. We have beach and pool towels available along with comfy robes and bath towels. You will also find a fresh supply of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, soap, lotion and sun tan lotion...please use it, the strength of the sun can sneak up on you.

Lastly, the pool area is shared with John and Alison and their young daughter, Hinson. We hope you love relaxing around the pool as much as we do.

Where you’ll be

Sandys, Bermuda

The Ledgelets Cottage Colony is located just past the worlds smallest drawbridge, Somerset Bridge. No longer a working drawbridge today, it does connect you to our little piece of "The Rock". The property is situated in just below Fort Scaur on 4.5 acres, featuring lovely gardens and lawns, with hosts of Bermuda and American Roses scattered through out.

The Ledgelets has been with the Young family since the early 1900's...part of the main house is over 350 years old and still has the original cedar beams! The Ledgelets was one of the first cottage colonies in Bermuda, opening in 1948. After 50 years as a guest house, the property was converted into residential rentals. And only until recently have we decided to bring back some of that old school Bermuda charm by turning a few of the cottages back into vacation rentals and bringing the property back to its former glory.

Somerset is in the western part of Bermuda, near the Royal Naval Dockyard. We are about an hour from St. Georges and 30 minutes from our capital, Hamilton. Our little town of Somerset is just a few minutes away and can be walked to along the Railway Trail and further west is Dockyard which is approximately 15 minutes away. We are five minutes from the Port Royal Golf Course, home of the PGA Grand Slam. And of course, don't forget our beaches! Most of Bermuda's beautiful beaches are located on the South Shore, which are about 10-15 minutes away.

The best way to really see the island is from the water. Anywhere near it and in it. Somerset Bridge ("our hood") is the best place on the island for water sports. We are a 10 minute walk to a PADI dive shop, which includes kayak, boat and jet ski rentals. Stand up paddle boarding with amazing views can be found nearby - go in the early evening to catch a glimpse of a sea turtle or two!

JOHN - John Hinson Young III comes from a long line of hospitality professionals. Born in Jamaica in 1971 where his family owned the The Plantation Inn, John's grandfather owned and operated The Lantana Colony Club in Bermuda previously. John began learning the business from the ground up by following his beloved grandfather around the original Ledgelets property, watching his every move and absorbing his wisdom while in Bermuda on family vacations.

After leaving Jamaica in 1978, John’s family settled in Vermont where they bought and ran the Sugarbush Inn until 1988 before moving into the restaurant business. It should be no surprise to anyone that John’s main focus and objective is to create a sense of place while paying careful attention to the core needs of every visitor.

At 16, John went to work for Horizons and Cottages (a Relais & Chateaux property) in Bermuda as a summer student over the next two years. From 1992 John spent three years in Colorado working for the Vail Village Inn and then as a Manager at the Vail Racquet Club. In 1995 John returned to Vermont to complete his studies at the University of Vermont, concentrating on Entrepreneurship Management. After graduating in 1998, John joined the Topnotch Resort and Spa in Stowe Vermont where he spent four years working his way up to Front Office Manager and Assistant to the Executive Housekeeper, again honing his skills and learning every aspect of the business.

John moved back to his native Bermuda in 2002 working in hospitality in various guises until 2005 when he was invited to join the executive team as the assistant Manager of the Golf Villas - part of the Private Residence Club at the brand new Tucker’s Point Resort. He quickly rose through the ranks becoming General Manager of the Golf Villas before becoming Director of the Residence Club Operations, overseeing more than 300 owners and 35 staff.

Although being part of one of the island's newest tourism products from the beginning, John's ultimate goal was to use his talents and experience to own and operate something uniquely Bermudian. That opportunity came in 2013 when he became sole owner of his family property - The Ledgelets.

ALISON - Alison Corday Young is a business woman and designer who grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA, with a Bermudian father and American mother. In 1999, in her junior year of college, she started a company making custom handbags out of vintage fabrics with a friend. These evolved into stylish therapeutic bags that had patent pending magnetic technology that helped to reduce stress on the mind and body. A couple years after graduating, Alison moved back to her island home of Bermuda to work for Tucker’s Point Club and Hotel. As the Director of Retail, she developed their early shops, including the Golf Pro Shop, the Tennis Pro Shop, the Spa boutique and the lobby boutique Regali. She was involved in all aspects of purchasing, branding and developing merchandise for the luxury property, including apparel, gifts and spa product. Now, working with her husband John, Alison is able to put all her passions – style, art, wellness and hospitality – together to make The Ledgelets Cottage Colony experience island-cool and authentic.

HINSON - Little Hinson has tons of experience in being cute. Already a jet-setter, Hinson is very sociable and loves to read and dance. As stylish as mommy and as charming as daddy, she joins them in being committed to creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all guests at The Ledgelets.

LANTANA AKA "GUARD CAT" - is our favorite feline. He is a rescue and has been a part of the family since he was a kitten. Tana, as we affectionately refer to him, is an indoor / outdoor cat and roams the property freely. He may take a little time to warm up, but feel free to give him lots of love when he does. We only ask that you do not feed him...he can be a bit greedy!
