I'm a philosophy professor at TCU and have lived in the beautiful Fairmount National Historic District for over ten years. Fairmount lies at the center of Fort Worth, which is home to the Historic Stockyards, the Kimbell Art Museum, the Fort Worth Modern, and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, as well as a thriving music and art scene. It's also the youngest urban area in Texas. I practice yoga, meditation, and contemplative dance, and I love adventuring around the world, up mountains and into deserts, riding my bike along the many bike trails in Fort Worth, playing music, and meeting new people and sharing stories. My present extra-curricular project is converting an old International school bus into a sustainable, off-the grid living space. I'm developing a contemplative philosophy program at TCU to take students away from the lure of social media and into the jungles of Costa Rica and the mountains of India to talk about mind, consciousness, and self and engage in a variety of contemplative practices. A few favorite places I and my trusty vintage backpack have recently visited include Woodstock, NY, Costa Rica, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and various national parks around the States.
