We offer 4 rooms in a unique, donut-shaped hub of Mirisbiris Garden and Nature Center, 10 ha (25 acres) of tropical garden and rainforest with a pretty, pebbly beach and coral reef too. Also, educational/meeting space, food, coffee & garden-fresh herbal teas

All four bedrooms have air conditioning and private baths and are as pictured for bedroom 1. The beds are modular, but our default setup is for one queen bed and 4 singles (in bunks).

The space
Think of Mirisbiris as a destination, not just a place to sleep. The gardens, forest, and beach await you. Rooms open into the courtyard, with fishpond, orchids, and central gazebo. Educational displays, a small Nature library, the coffee shop/ dining area, and a handicraft area round out the upper level. Downstairs is mostly shop area, manager's quarters, and a multipurpose room for larger groups. Most of the time it's very quiet, but there are a few times when we use the function rooms and common areas for seminars, parties, traditional folk singing, or educational video showing. No worry, we'd let you know in advance, and you might very well be invited to join!

Where you’ll be

Santo Domingo, Bicol, Philippines

Salvacion is a rural farming and fishing village. Mirisbiris Garden and Nature Center has 10 ha (about 25 acres). Most is natural rainforest-to-reef but the area right around the Visitor Center is planted in herbs, ornamentals, and (mostly) organic vegetables and fruits. Most of our staff are from the village.
The Visitor Center has a nice coffee shop/simple restaurant, the Anahaw Room. There are no other restaurants in Salvacion, but if you prefer to eat out, we're happy to point you to some options in Legazpi, Tabaco, or Sto. Domingo town.

We're a retired couple. Well, semi-retired. Chris still studies volcanoes and Glenda still helps with village health matters. But we're increasing the amount of time we spend developing Mirisbiris as an oasis of "Wow!" Proceeds from Mirisbiris support students from Salvacion through college. More details available at our Mirisbiris Garden website. Both of us are lifelong learners, and we enjoy helping others to learn, too!

During your stay

The gardens and showcasing tropical Nature are our hobby, and we're delighted to share them with visitors. Glenda is the better gardener; Chris can tell you about Mayon Volcano and other things geological. We'll be delighted if you can teach us more, and/or want to get your hands dirty! Our home is just a few minutes down the road, so we're around most days and in evenings by prearrangement. Some of our staff are shy about speaking in English but they can, so draw them out to learn more about local customs, livelihood, and village life! Since we are an NGO that benefits local families, we'll be happy to tell you about that too, but only if you ask.
