What you'll do

We will begin with a peek in the Boutique, featuring jewelry handcrafted by award-winning US artists, and a behind-the-scenes look at my working jewelry studio. I will also share some history of my 1890 building, including a copy of the handwritten deed to the original house. In the workshop you will use a combination of specialized jeweler's hand tools (the same that were used to make jewelry in the 19th century) and modern equipment to make your bracelet. First, you will hammer steel letter stamps to impress inspirational words, phrases, and designs of your choice onto a copper strip. Then, you will form the strip into a cuff bracelet with hammers and steel tools, oxidize (blacken) the metal, and polish to your desired finish. You will go home with a meaningful piece of jewelry that you created with your own hands. We limit the workshop to four students to guarantee lots of personal instruction, as well as the opportunity to get to know your classmates. You can relax and enjoy a glass of Virginia wine.
Other things to note
Our studio workstations are separated by plexiglass barriers. Hand sanitizer, masks, and disposable smocks are available. Unfortunately, our Victorian-era building is not fully accessible to the handicapped.

I’ve been making art all of my life (drawing, graphics, photography) and now my current passion is jewelry making. I own Wear Ever Jewelry Handcrafted Boutique and Jewelry School in charming Alexandria, Virginia, where I love helping students create their own uniquely personal jewelry using traditional hand techniques. My Master’s degree in Jewelry/Metals and nine years of nationwide teaching equip me with a thorough knowledge of design and techniques. My own work has been honored by the jewelry industry’s prestigious Saul Bell Design Awards, Niche Awards, and MJSA Vision Awards. In this workshop, you will be personally guided through the jewelry making process by me and/or Beth, our experienced goldsmith. We are always thrilled when students are bursting with delight and a sense of accomplishment at their finished pieces.

I hesitated in going bc it’s a little far from DC and I was tired that day, but I’m glad that I eventually went! It was a very unique experience. Jennifer was very helpful and made the whole process fun and engaging.

Great experience - highly recommend. We had family adventure with teenagers and it kept their attention! Recommend across all ages and genders. Will definitely return. Hostess was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable with just the right blend of personal attention and room to figure out for yourself.

This was an amazing experience! I brought my younger sister for her birthday and it was just the two of us in the class and we got so much hands on teaching! Jennifer was super welcoming and gave us great info on the building and it’s history. Beth was extremely patient and attentive every step of the way. She took her time and let us take plenty of time to ensure our designs and final product were perfect! Beth paid attention to every minor detail and together we kept working and making minor adjustments until everything from design to size to fit to color was exactly how we wanted it. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!

This workshop is not to be missed! My friend and I had a great experience. The location was easy to get to and surrounded by local restaurants and bars if you want to grab something to eat before or after. Jennifer was a wonderful and warm host. She was friendly in letting us come in a few minutes early and offering wine and water. Beth led our workshop and she was great. It was only my friend and I that evening so it felt like a private session with one-on-one instruction from Beth. The workshop was fun and creative and we learned a lot more than we expected on how to make bracelets. My friend and I ran overtime and Jennifer and Beth were gracious to let us take our time. I highly recommend this experience!
