What you'll do

Some places only come alive after dark, or at least in the later hours of the day - and indeed that might be said of Dublin. At evening time the city's majestic architecture, its wrought-iron railings and bridges take on an eerie, almost Dickensian look. And yet this is Ireland, and the nearby pubs teem with banter and the strains of lively Irish music played on the fiddle and on the tin whistle. . .

The Evening Tour will show you what few visitors see - Dublin’s more romantic ‘after 6pm’ ambience - with neither an office worker nor another tourist in sight. A great end-of-day activity for couples, groups or just the individual flâneur, the tour starts from the iconic Spire in O'Connell Street and calls at the General Post Office and the city's haunted Ha'penny Bridge.

We briefly immerse ourselves in a more contemporary Dublin as we visit the lively Temple Bar district, and call in on The Project - the club where supergroup U2 were originally spotted in 1978 by talent scout Paul McGuinness.

We view the world’s first purpose-built parliament - the Old Irish Parliament in College Green - and pass through the genteel shopping thoroughfare of Grafton Street, before our evening stroll finally concludes at the the elegant Mansion House - home to Dublin's Lord Mayor and the first dedicated mayoral residence in either Ireland or Great Britain.

I'm an experienced Dublin Tour Guide with over 400 5-star reviews to my name online, and have been tour guiding for nearly 10 years now; I've led bus tours not only around Dublin but also to the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare and the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland (with Wild Rover Tours). I am regularly in demand with most of the main walking tour operators in the Irish Capital, and like to spice up my tour content with quirky and unusual items such as referencing the Viking Sagas (which mention a lot about Dublin), the fact that Ireland once had its own time zone (did you know that?), as well as a little of our local Dublin humor.

Jack was personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed his stories and he has many! His retelling of historical events was interesting and informative. He told many off best stories which makes the historical events much more interesting. He is a wonderful guide. We would highly recommend this tour. You can tell Jack knows his history, likes what he does, and loves Dublin. He is one of the better tour guides we have ever had. Book a tour with him! You won’t be disappointed.

Jack is the business! He is like a walking history book. So interesting! Even my teenagers stayed interested. Jack did a great job including them and telling stories that would pique interest. We took Jack's tour on New Year's Eve and he was very conscientious about our safety and comfort. Jack is a class act and his tour is top rate. 10 out of 10.

This experience was truly one of the best tours of my life! Jack is so knowledgeable about everything Ireland—and especially Dublin—history. The way he presents the information is passionate, well paced, corresponds with the scenery perfectly, and allows you to connect history with real life. You’ll start at the Spire in city center and progress through the city ending up at the Lord Mayor’s House. You’ll see plenty of sights along the way and hear many personal stories from Jack. Jack truly knows Dublin—both her history and people. He told great stories of people that he’s met including rockstars and the current mayor to name a couple. If Jack didn’t know someone personally he was talking about, there was usually a friend or family member of his that did. Lots of tours that I’ve taken have felt like the guide was reading from a pre-written script. This tour is not like that. Jack tells Dublin’s history in a way that is personal and something you wouldn’t get from anyone else—he even had an original Act of Parliament to show us when visiting House of Commons—no one else could provide that level of insane detail. To summarize, if this tour is available when you’re in Dublin, it is a MUST do!! The city is beautiful at night providing an unforgettable experience in Ireland’s Capital!

great stories about Dublin, and Jack is wonderful at fostering conversation. Not Jack's fault at all, but with COVID restrictions we couldn't tuck in to a pub and have a drink at the end which would have been a lovely way to end the chilly, December evening tour! But still all in all, it was a great time :)
