What you'll do

You’ll be welcomed into our kitchen to master the fine art of cooking, following my mom's recipes. Using only the freshest ingredients I'll show how I prepare and make our traditional food. We’ll enjoy Indian drinks, some starters and a delicious meal together whilst I give you insight into some of the oldest recipes in the world.

We’ll welcome you to our home and serve you one of our traditional Indian drinks (chai, lassi, lemon soda, fresh seasonal juice, etc.). The class will begin with an introduction to the spices, herbs and ingredients that we will be using in the recipes.

We’ll focus in more details on the North Indian cuisine which includes dishes like chapati, paratha (Indian breads), seasonal vegetable curries (garlic bhindi, aloo gobhi, dal, pumpkin curry, carrot curry, paneer masala, tinda curry, eggplant masala, baigan bharta, and gutaa curry).
My wife Harshita and I will start with a demonstration and then you will have a chance to make round chapatis breads and a vegetable curry by yourself.
We’ll also serve an Indian dessert to accompany our meal.

There will be typical traditional Indian food and drinks, a good conversation and an informal and intimate atmosphere that makes feel at home surrounded by friends.

We will be happy to provide gluten-free and vegan food on request.
We will also provide e- recipes of all the dishes we cook together.

My name is Monty, I was born and brought up in India and I have been working in the travel industry for almost 14 years now. I am a people person, I like travelling, love food and enjoy meeting likeminded travellers. My wife Harshita and I love to cook so we decided to provide cooking lessons for our international guests travelling through India. During this class, we'll walk you through the culture and history of Indian cooking and we'll eat what we cook together. It's a hands-on immersive experience, and always a lot of fun!

Wow, where to start. Monty and Harshita are such warm and welcoming people. They invited us into their home and shared their knowledge and passion for Indian food with us. Before the experience started, they were very responsive to our concerns about my partners severe allergy to all nuts (dry fruits) and seafood. They provided reassurance that this wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't. Throughout the cooking process, they were clear on what ingredients were being used and made us feel completely at ease. The cooking process was really fun and the end result was delicious! Monty and Harshita are very open and welcome any and every question on their culture and lives. They even shared their wedding video with us which was so special and a spectacle to be seen! If you're in Jaipur and want to do a cooking class, I couldn't recommend this experience enough.

Highly recommend this experience. Monty has many years of experience in tourism and he told us stories all evening long. Harshita is so friendly that it feels like hanging out with a friend and making supper. If you are in Jaipur, don’t miss this!

My husband and I found ourselves with one extra day in Jaipur and nothing to do before our evening flight home. Harshita and Monty welcomed us into a their beautiful home very last minute and showed us how to create a great feast of several different local dishes. They were careful to customize the dishes based on our allergies and preferences (replacing peanut oil due to my husbands nut allergy, and leaving out the cilantro on my portion because, ew). Both were so friendly and welcoming and happy to let us get hands-on practice and answer questions. It was wonderful to get a taste of food that is made on a daily bases by so many families in the region rather than just eating restaurant food again. We would absolutely recommend this class to anyone visiting Jaipur.

Loved cooking, sharing and eating with Monty and Harshita. We stared by making sweet rice for dessert, then learnt about breads, cooking carrot and pea curry plus a delicious dahl. At the end of the day we sat down and enjoyed lunch together. We learnt about about Indian life, families, cultures and food!
