What you'll do

A greeting to all participants will be given, with typical dutch sweets, coffee or tea. When done, I shall explain the procedure, showing how to handle the clay. We will be talking about the easiest method to reach a beautiful result; a resembling portrait.
From here on, our hands will hit the soft clay and we will set up the basic form of the head. I have developed a great didactic method to systematically put all the details of a head like a nose, mouth etc. in the correct relation to one another and I will demonstrate it to everyone. The result is that people shall immediately earn the confidence in themselves, the knowledge that they can do it themselves too. Catering is provided.
Centrally, I will explain the principles of sculpture and shall often go around to teach everyone individually. After 2 or 3 hours most people will be finished.
Afterwards, we will set up all the clay heads together with the creator for a photograph that they can send home. You will have a new hobby for the rest of your life.
Other things to note
As my studio is on the ground floor, I can easily accommodate wheelchair users. If you want to take the material you use home afterwards, there is a small additional cost of EUR 30,00

I received my education as visual artist at the Rietveld modern art academy as well as at the classical art oriented Rijksacademie. You can find my work in public spaces, in private collections and in diverse exhibitions in galleries/museums.
Although I have now grown into an artist that creates monumental forms, my passion for making portraits of heads has not subsided! For years I have enjoyed teaching how to create a portrait of a head to a group or an individual. In visiting my wonderful studio you will have the chance to see a lot of my work. Come and experience the practice of an well known artist in the Amsterdam art world.

Where you'll be

Next to my ground floor studio there is a wonderful palm garden. From the street, you will enter through an arch to see the 23 palm trees standing in front of the studio building (containing 30 studios). If you like we can visit a sculpture studio of one of my colleagues.

Exclellent experience with the wonderful Godalieve....friendly, generous and a wonderful instructor. We were amazed at what we were able to achieve with her tutelage in such a short time. If you're in Amsterdam, do this. It's a great way to spend an afternoon - and we learned such a lot.

This is a super experience. Went with my boyfriend and we both had fun. Great way to spend your weekend. Lots of laughs, conversations with different people and just exploring your creativity even if you’re not an expert. Godelieve is very welcoming, guides you through the process and a wonderful teacher! I recommend this 100%!

This is definitely an unforgettable and unique experience to do with a partner if visiting Amsterdam. Godelieve is a great teacher and provided the right amount of guidance so we really felt like the work was our own. She was laid-back, patient, fun and friendly, and we had a really great time. The studio space was light and inspiring, and we also enjoyed some appeltaart in the garden. Highly recommended. Plus afterwards you will have a new appreciation for your partner's face!

Godelieve was wonderful. She is an amazing teacher. i can't believe what we accomplished in 2 hours! Her studio is full of light and a perfect place for a class like this. If I lived in Amsterdam, I would definitely enroll in her studio classes; she is a master teacher and just a lovely person to be around. If you are into art, I highly recommend this as part of your Amsterdam visit.

Godelieve is an extraordinary teacher. It's incredible, but she really CAN teach you to sculpt another person's likeness in an afternoon. She is a serious artist, and deeply involved with the arts community in the Netherlands. Her studio is absolutely fabulous. We learned so much, and enjoyed her company so very much. I highly recommend this experience.
