What you'll do

We will start the tour by introducing you to the simple concept of Permaculture and our zero waste philosophy. We will then take you through a guided walk in our forest where we will showcase some of our working models of waste management and our integrated farming system.

We will then take you for a walk towards our terraced gardens and past a bamboo bridge over a gushing mountain stream to introduce you to our Air Dwellings, our natural building that is handcrafted by mostly using just mud, bamboo, wood and stones.

The guests are then free to enjoy the various spaces in our forest that appeal to their senses, from sitting by a waterfall to exploring our forest trails to discovering some more secrets of the forest.

We will serve lunch at 13:30 hrs. It will be a treat of local cuisine and vegetables that are sourced from our forest farm or from other local organic farmers.

If you would like to customize the whole experience as an evening one (15:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs.), pls let us know during the time of booking. We can also extend the experience to include a bonfire evening and stay in one of our accommodations (charges will be extra).
Other things to note
The tour in our forest garden involves a fair amount of walking (read: hiking) in forest trails. Pls ensure that you have the comfortable shoes and clothes for this experience.

I am the founder of Tieedi Forest Garden - a zero waste, regenerative permaculture forest in Darjeeling.

After attaining a Permaculture Design Certification in 2016 I set off on this adventure to revive an acre of land molested with plastic waste and to transform it back into a rainforest.

The quest for a more regenerative life has led us to grow our own food, and also research on the natural super foods that are indigenous to Darjeeling - one of the unique biodiversity hotspots of the world.

The best experience of my life. We went for a short vacation on weekend. We initially booked an experience from airbnb in sonada. We booked a different homestay 3.5 km far from TIEEDI . We initially thought farm house won't be safe maybe as we r new to the place and just two girls. We had a great day in TIEEDI permaculture experience. we loved being around the trees their pets and utsow rosa and upasana nana and the forest garden. We loved upasana nana , we loved thire pets. Coco and chungi followed us till our homestay when we left TIEEDI. I personally don't like dogs and cats. Then we fell in love with their Dogs and Cats . She. We left coco and chungi followed us till our homestay. We didn't wanted to leave coco and chungi We also felt so bad to leave TIEEDI and then we returned . It felt like going home again. They gave us discount and we then stayed in their awesome mud house.

It is one of a kind experience.. The experience gives you a slice of amazing people, place and philosophy.. From the very first minute of meeting the people associated with this, I felt at home.Utsow's team is totally into the work they do and their passion reflects while they explain you about their work. All of them - Saurabh, Spoorthy and the team have created this beautiful little self-sustaining world through extremely simple but impactful technology and strategies that even a layman can apply and understand. Be it the technology of waste management, energy consumption, architecture, or be it simply co- living with nature and the neighbourhood. It has something for everyone. Go for it!

Teedie permaculture project is a really cool place, you have to see it to believe it. They are in the beautiful Darjeeling region which sadly has a lot of littering and waste, but this project is helping the area to return to its best potential. The tour is really informative about the place and permaculture more widely (I knew nothing about it before), and there is a fresh hot lunch at the end. 10/10 would recommend this.

I had never heard much about Permaculture before taking up this experience, but surely I'm taking back a lot of learning and a lifetime experience in the 4hours spent at Tieedi. Thank you Utsow, Jonathan for the beautiful & mesmerizing tour. Thanks to the chef for the amazing lunch. Lastly, lots of love to our little mascots Chungi and Coco In short, If you are a nature lover, this is a must visit place. Truely magical!

Haven't the slightest idea about permaculture farming, the guide/architect/resident volunteer/farmer "Sourabh" was very easy to understand and his affable personality really brought my interest into permaculture, the whole carbon cycle/decomposition and what the Tieedi movement is all about to the next level. I would have loved to meet Utsow in person, but, nevertheless it was a wonderful experience. Not to mention, the delicious, absolutely gobsmacking ethnic food they served. I mean, as a foodie, in my opinion, the food served alone was worth the entire price of the experience. If you are a nature person - you can't go wrong with this one. Go for it.
