Mariana has a wealth of knowledge and is an amazing tour guide, historian, and food archaeologist. Both my brother and I were pleasantly surprised by how seemlessly Mariana wove history into food, culture, and present-day life in Crete and Greece more broadly. We learned a ton, ate a ton, and highly recommend! What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Chania!

Mariana is simply wonderful! Her knowledge is exceptional. The food choices delicious. The overall experience is better than expected. Beyond just tasting the food you get to see it being prepared in the old tradition and learn the history. Mariana is generous with her time, wisdom, and kindness. Highly recommended!

Mariana was such a delight. The food she allowed us to experience and taste, along with the historical tour, was incredible. Mariana paired two of our favorite things - food and history. We also had two seniors with us and she was very accommodating with the pace. By the end of it she felt like a new friend. We hated to say goodbye! I should also note - in her off time she is an archaeologist so was well qualified, which was immediately obvious!

This tour is outstanding and essential to understanding all the local foods and culture. We would have been lost in Crete without Mariana! Mariana is so darn smart and has a great sense of humor. She feeds you so well you won’t need to eat for the the rest of the day. If I visit Chania again I will book other tour with Mariana!

Mariana was incredibly patient as our group included four kids from ages 9-13. She was also willing to adjust our times when half our group was not able to get there on time. we explored, learned about the foods, and ate more than we needed! it was great to learn about different foods and try out local treasures.

Our time with Mariana in Chania was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece! Mariana is a wealth of knowledge and opened our eyes to examining history and culture through gastronomy. She was able to distill her academic background into natural conversations that didn't feel tour-guide-y, and of course plenty of local food and their contexts. Come ready to learn, eat, and walk a beautiful city!
