What you'll do

During this experience we will try to achieve something seemingly impossible - visit a ‘city under the city’. The now central and vibrant district of Warsaw used to be known as ‘the northern district’ before World War II. It was populated mostly by Jews and during WWII a vast part of it was transformed into Warsaw Ghetto. During this walk we will try to explore the little that is left from the lively pre-war district and visit sites where the horrors of the Ghetto took place.
The trip starts in the city center will lat approx. 3-4 hours (3 - 4km walking + tram tour). We will talk about back then people's life, mentality, general war background and impact on nowadays. These sites include the original ghetto wall, the very few surviving pre-war residential buildings, street, Gestapo prison site and the round-up point where 300,000 Jews were sent to the extermination camps. Some of these spots are hard to find even to locals.

History of Warsaw, especially WWII times, is Magda's passion. She gives consulting service to books with such topics. We would like to offer people visiting Warsaw a unique experience of visiting off-map memorable sites with stories from the World War II and their impact on constructions, city's landscape and people's mentality. We lived in many places in the world and love to meet new friends and embrace cultural uniqueness.

Where you'll be

We start from the center and first visit the only original ghetto wall before seeing the surviving pre-war ghetto building. Then we walk to the symbolic ghetto bridge before visiting the Gestapo prison and the assembly point where 300,000 Jews were sent to the gas chambers. Last part starts from the bunker remanent where the Jewish fighter chief fought against Nazis and ends in a beautiful multi-cultural square where Jewish culture is reborn.

This was an amazing walk through the Warsaw Ghettos, with interesting stories and locations. Magda is very knowledgable, well prepared and such a wonderful person. Perfect english, which makes so much easier to understand the history of The Ghetto. I recomend you go with them as early of your stay as possible. That will help you navigate your stay better. Thank you so much for your time 🙏🏻

Magda made us live an interesting and lively experience. She knew a lot about the topic, took time to answer all of our questions and made it a fun way to learn more about Warsow! Moreover, we had the chance to be the only people with her so we got to know a very nice person and stopped in a delicious cafe.

I learnt a great deal more about Warsaw with a focus on The Ghetto. Details of the city were highlighted that otherwise I may never have noticed. I'd highly recommend Magda and Tyler's tour.

Had a great tour seeing sights a bit off the beaten path on WWII history. It was a great walk full of great info, stories and sights. Magda and Tyler are very knowledgeable and interesting. They do this as a hobby and a passion and it shows in their tour. They aren't professional guides and I say this in the best possible way -- they do it because they love the history and the stories and because they want to share their knowledge. It ended up being a private tour because a few other guests cancelled. Wow! Lucky for us. Highly recommend.
