What you'll do

As a beekeeper, I am always looking for ways to get other people interested in these amazing creatures and to value the tremendous gifts they bestow on us. I have been making honey & beeswax products for years, but mainly as gifts (or meals) for family & friends. It’s always a good time to share some of my passion and have offered this experience to colleague beekeepers for some time.

So, please, come and join me in the kitchen …

We start off by discussing honey and how versatile it is. We will then prepare a 3-course meal, every dish will contain a smidgen (and sometimes more …) of honey. You will be sous chef.

What we will make:
- Honey Oat Crunchies
- Honey & Marscarpone Tart
- Chorizo with Wine & Honey
- Goat & Cream Cheese drizzled with Honey
- Harvest salad with Honey & Mustard Vinaigrette
- Beetroot Salad with Honeyed Apples
- Sticky Chicken with Honey, Lemon & Thyme
- Ice cream with Salted Honey Caramel Sauce
- Pears roasted in Mead & Honey

While we are waiting for the meal to finish cooking, we shall make some quick & easy honey-based gifts … unique, novel & mostly from ingredients you would already have in your kitchen at home.

We then break for the meal - sharing the food we have prepared, as well as stories and laughter, around the table.

After the meal, I show you how to make two beeswax crafts - you get to take samples home with you.

I am a beekeeper & understand the properties & benefits of raw honey & beeswax. When I started my journey into beekeeping, I searched for & tried every possible recipe I came across that incorporated honey as an ingredient &, gosh, I was amazed at its versatility. You could have super sweet, mildly sweet, tangy sweet, not noticeable sweet .. all using the golden food provided by nature. I learned to use honey as a replacement for sugar. I would never have imagined the variety that I could prepare as starters, main meals, and desserts using honey, or beverages, or tea-time treats etc. For years, gifts to family and friends have been homemade using honey or beeswax. In my home, I make & use Beeswax Food Wraps as a replacement for plastic wrap.

I have given this workshop professionally to fellow beekeepers & now offer it as an experience.

Where you'll be

I offer the workshop at a private venue - it looks like a horse-shoe shaped bar counter. It is very relaxed but upmarket at the same time. Participants are seated around the ‘bar’ to watch the processes & all can see the projected menus on the screen. You get invited into the middle of the horseshoe to act as sous chef & assist with the cooking. Weather permitting, we move into the beautiful garden to share the meal, otherwise we eat at the ‘bar’
