What you'll do

Enjoy a chronological, walking tour of old Wilmington. I will share with you facts about the founding families and the architectural beauty preserved in their historic homes which line these brick streets. We will also discuss the social and economic implications which shaped the Port City including African American, Jewish, and European contributions, the railroad, the Civil War, and World War II. We will conclude with the decline and subsequent revitalization of downtown. The 2.25 mile tour usually takes a little over 1hr and 30 mins to complete.
Other things to note
We do not enter any houses. In the event of bad weather, tours may be postponed, rescheduled, or canceled. My schedule is flexible, message to inquire about specific dates and times.

JR’s walking tour of Wilmington was so interesting. His knowledge of history, architecture and the economy over the centuries really made for an entertaining experience. My family booked a private tour, but either way, if you like history at all, you will enjoy this tour!

JR was very friendly and knowledgeable. And he was very patient with us as we dawdled a little too long at a few stops.

Very informative, JR is super friendly, and knowledgeable. And very accommodating, he set up a private tour for us as we couldn’t make his regular time.

Highly recommend this tour, it's clear that J.R. is a local with a deep knowledge of his home town. Every house in historic Wilmington has its own story, and J.R. was able to tell each one by heart.
