What you'll do

We start our journey by seeing old and white houses of Bodrum covered with a bougainvillaea. We keep walking through the historical buildings in the narrow streets of Bodrum.

After a short walk we reach to Bodrum Bazaar. There are hundreds of stores here but I want to show you selected stores which are more special. You can buy gifts for your loved ones.

Bodrum Sandals are famous in the world. We are going to an artisan’s atelier and hear the true story of sandals from a 50 year experienced artisan İbrahim Usta. You can have your highest quality leather sandals here.

Then we will visit localmaker and collective Turkish designer’s store which is located in the side street. These kind of stores are not always easy to find.

In our trail we will taste traditional food and eat everything little by little. We mainly stop at 4 food places.

And we finalize our experience by tasting Turkish coffee and wonderful Turkish delight (lokum) I am going to tell you the story and traditional way of drinking.

Note: After our experience I will send you the list of the most special, experiential local places in Bodrum so you may have your beautiful personal journey in the following days too.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please write me first, before booking or paying for your experience.

‘Merhaba!’

The word welcomes you when you arrive to Bodrum and it means ‘Hello’ in Turkish.

I am Melis. I am Turkish. Arts and the sea are my passions. I love all details in my blue town.

I have lived in Milano, spent long time in Canada and Malta and travelled to countries. In my experiences I always tried to understand the real life of the locals and find the hidden places.

I have always enjoyed to host my friends from abroad. Every time they told me that they have never seen those places in their previous trips.

Now I want to reach people to show them the most beautiful details and local culture here.

You can choose your personal experience packages which includes arts, design, local drinks, slow food, artisanship and antiques.

I try to move your 5 senses and tell the stories behind experiences.
I hope you enjoy our journey!

We had a fantastic tour with Melis in Bodrum and highly recommend it! My husband and I arrived to the city for our honeymoon and became overwhelmed by the variety of restaurants, cafes, and shops. We decided to get a tour with a local who could help us to navigate through it. The tour “Discover Street Food and Shop Towards Tradition” with Melis was just perfect for it! Melis took us to several cafes to try traditional Turkish food and explained why and how Turkish people eat it. The places that we visited are very popular among locals and the food was absolutely delicious. Melis also took us to several shops to buy local artisan crafts, jewelry and clothes. She introduced us to an artist who makes unique ceramic jewelry. Apparently the artist is one of the most established and respected artists in Bodrum, and we would never know it unless Melis showed us his shop. Another treasure was a leather sandal shop. The craftsman who makes the sandals has been making them for the last 30 years and the shoes are timelessly beautiful and of superior quality. You could watch how the craftsman makes the sandals right there at the shop! I was so grateful to Melis for taking us to all these places where I bought truly unique hand made local products. We finished our tour at a coffee shop where we ate the most delicious baklava ever and learned how to properly drink Turkish coffee. Melis also gave us excellent recommendations for other places to visit in Bodrum. Melis made the whole experience very fun, interesting, and educating. And she was a great pleasure to spend time with - very open, thoughtful, genuine, and cultured. It was hard to say goodbye to Melis when the tour had finished! The tour was definitely a highlight of our trip. We would definitely take other experiences with Melis next time we are in Bodrum. Thank you so much, Melis!!!
