This experience was absolutely incredible! Montserrat was at *the* top of my to-do list while staying in Barcelona, and Pere made it totally worth it! I was even considering cancelling, because I was super exhausted from travel from the previous two days. But I'm SO glad I didn't. I've never seen such a historically- and naturally-significant landscape before in my life, and this took my breath away. I had to keep being "reeled" back in, because I couldn't believe the sights that awaited every corner. We even came across a family of mountain-goats that were running along the mountain- like something I've only ever seen in National Geographic!! Pere also showed us the ruins of at least a half-dozen Monk Recluse house ruins, which were fascinating. It was so so cool! Pere also provides multiple route options, which is fantastic! Once you get to the top of the mountain, he sits down with the group, and a *real* map of trails, and goes over the many paths you can take. We opted for a more technical, but brief, hike- about 2.5 hours. But he also gave us choices from totally-flat to serious climb-like hikes. A couple of notes: * BOOK THIS TRIP... you will be so glad you did! * Bring extra snacks! There is a cafe at the start and finish of the hike, but the snack Pere provides will not be enough if you choose a more lengthy excursion. * Be prepared for rain or shine! This true hike will go on, even if it rains. And it gets much colder at the top of the mountain range.

Pere is a wonderful mountain guide - he really knows Montserrat, the hiking (and rock climbing) routes, forest paths and folklores in the region. Pere has a steady pace of guiding us in hiking to the summit Sant Jeroni, with storytelling that is both energizing and peaceful at the same time. We also learnt about the plants, wildlife, history of the region and the monastery from Pere. He kindly took candid pictures for us and shared them after the hike. We had an exhilarating day in Montserrat. Highly recommended! =)

Pere was a wonderful guide, knowledgeable about both the mountain terrain and its legends. I liked that he had options for hike length & difficulty based on the abilities & desires of the group. The views from the top of the mountain are incredible - I highly recommend this hike. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes & dress for cooler weather at the high elevation.
