What you'll do

Our tours are now open.
Tour includes Urban Family Brewing, Stoup Brewing and Lucky Envelope Brewing.
Each tour is led by an experienced Cicerone. Right in the center of Ballard's brewing district, our ¼ mile walk is filled with great beers. You will try some of the beers that have made Ballard one of the most famous brewing districts in the world, with some unique ales, lagers and something special. At each brewery we'll try four amazing 4 oz. beer samples for a total of 12 different beers. During our walk we will learn about the different styles of beers, how to taste and enjoy a beer, how beer is made, the history of beer, why Seattle is at the center of the craft beer Renaissance. Whether you are an experienced cerevisaphile or trying your first ale or lager I guarantee you that you'll find something that you've never tasted before, something you might not care for, and something that you will love. If you have never been to Seattle's brewery scene you will find the atmosphere warm and inviting.
If the date or tour doesn't work out for you I have three other tours that just might.

Since my first encounter with a Munich Beer Garden when I was in college, I've loved good beer. I moved to Ballard right when the Microbrewery Renaissance was taking off in 1984. This inspired me to make a documentary called "Beer and Ale: A Video Guide." I've been giving pub crawls and guided tours to my friends for years and decided to expand my circle of friends to include visitors to the Pacific Northwest, so I started Seattle Brewery Walking Tours. This gives me a chance to meet new and interesting people and share a beer from the breweries that I love. I am a Level 1 Cicerone, Certified Beer Server and I'm looking forward tasting some great beers with you.

Where you'll be

We will start out at Urban Family Brewing. These folks brew from the heart and we are going to try some sensational brews. Our next stop is around the corner at is Lucky Envelope Brewing, just a small brewing operation built in a warehouse that is open, neighborly and pouring some great beers. Our last stop is at Reuben's Canning Line, this is a taproom next to Reuben's Brews, one of older breweries in the Ballard Brewing District.

Timothy was an amazing guide and was very personable! The whole group couldn’t stop talking about him and the experience all night afterwards! I would definitely recommend this as a private group or just joining a group.

Timothy was an awesome tour guide! Very knowledgeable about beer and told us a lot of great historical stories about the origins of certain beers such as west coast IPA's and hazy IPA's. There was definitely no shortage of beer on this tour. If you enjoy any type of beer I would highly recommend it for the value of trying 12 different beers and learning about the history of it along the way. I highly recommend this tour!

Tim hosted one of the best brewery tours I have been on. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the Ballard neighborhood and local breweries, but it was his beer knowledge that really blew us away. I have been drinking craft beer for years, but Tim gave us a much fuller understanding of the history of different beers and how to drink and appreciate them. He was also very friendly and personable, making us feel comfortable throughout the tour. I would absolutely go on a second tour the next time I visit Seattle!

We would totally recommend this tour to everyone we know. Timothy is very communicative and knowledgable. We enjoyed every minute with him. It was pretty cool, we all tried a beer that neither of us had drank before. We definitely left the tour more knowledgable about beer. We even started liking beers that we previously did not like before.

This is a great activity and Tim has a wealth of knowledge. You can really see his passion come through when he talks about the history and cultural aspects. I’d like to do one of his other tours in the future!

Great tour of local breweries that are out of the main touristy areas. Loved trying the different beers and learning about the area and craft brewing. Would definitely recommend!
