What you'll do

Blini are a special treat every Russian family enjoys. Sweet with jam and condensed milk, or savory with mushrooms and cheese - these thin pancakes are perfect for every occasion. Blini are simple to make, but require practice and a few tricks. I'll share what I learned in my grandmother's kitchen so you can enjoy them too!

We'll start by introducing ourselves and talking a bit about the history and culture of blinis. We'll then learn the essentials of blini-making, especially how to make the perfect blini batter. While we're waiting for our batter to be ready, we'll make a rich mushroom filling for our blini. We'll then practice the perfect technique for the perfect Siberian blinis, every time.

You will leave confident in your blini-making skills, and with an appreciation for Russian culture and cuisine and a full belly!

I have always been passionate about food and cooking, and have worked in the industry for nearly seven years. I learned to cook in my grandmother's kitchen in a small town in Siberia, before moving to Estonia in 2011. I love to talk and teach about cooking, especially Russian blini and dumplings. It was so much fun to cook with Anna! We got to know some of her personal tastes about blini and her other cooking interests. We were encouraged by her instruction and rewarded with yummy things to eat. Recommend! This was a terrific first (ever) online cooking class for us both.

Anna was wonderful! The blini were to die for! She is very engaging and has a lot of patience as this was my first time doing them! What I loved the most is that she the class is very well planned so you can follow easily. Thank you Anna for such a lovely afternoon.

We made blini's as part of our team "offsite". Anna was a great host, super sweet and loved how she shared the history of blini's and how the recipe had been pasted down in her family. The blini's were delicious!! Big hit with everyone and they were fairly simple to make. We'll definitely be making blini's again. Thank you, Anna!!

We had the experience as a company team-building event and it was super fun! Anna explained everything very clearly, told lots of stories about Siberia and also seemed really knowledgeable about blini, plus we got to improve our cooking skills and got some super tasty food at the end of it!

My partner and I participated in this experience and had the best time. We learned so much about blinis, and all the different way to prepare them. Anna was a fantastic host, and we are SO excited to keep experimenting with them and to make "blini bags"! Highly recommend this experience!

Emma is so charming Andy down to earth — everyone was welcome! She told stories of her family — so interesting. The blinis were easy and delicious! She said at one point, “see, I am not an expert at this” and everyone laughed. She will make you feel very comfortable and she has a great 2 camera setup so you could see her and her preparing.
