What you'll do

Join me on a fun-filled jaunt uncovering the intriguing history and controversies behind the famous landmarks along the National Mall and Tidal Basin. (The day tours and night tours cover the same ground). Highlights include visits to the Washington Monument (exterior), Lincoln, MLK, WWII, Korea, & Vietnam Memorials and views of the Jefferson Memorial, White House, Capitol Building, & Smithsonian: I'll reveal how DC's favorite pastime, politics and money, shaped our capital city as it made its dubious rise to prominence. Tour is 2-to-2.5 hours and about 2.5 miles of mostly flat terrain. Bad jokes inc. free of charge.
YOU MAY REQUEST DATES/TIMES YEAR-ROUND. Tour-times are generally scheduled as follows:
DAY: Generally 9:00am-11:30am or 10:00am-12:30am (year-round)
NIGHT: 8:00-10:30pm (MAR 1-AUG 31) and 7:00pm-9:30pm (SEP 1-FEB 28)
For *Private Tours* it is $360 flat-rate for up to 25 guests (contact for details)
Other things to note
Plan ahead to arrive on-time. Whether taking metro/uber/lyft, getting around DC can take longer than expected. I don't recommend driving: parking can be hard & garages tend to close by 11pm. However, you can reserve spaces thru "Spothero" or try street parking on Jefferson Dr, NW or Madison Dr, SW

As a licensed tour guide, airbnb superhost, historian, and amateur comedian living in DC for the past 16 years, I've gained some unique insights into the city. I've held a number of positions from my 1st job here as Presidential Management Fellow at the US State Department to being stablehand at Rock Creek Park Horse Center. Accordingly, I've researched & developed an exciting excursion to share some of the intriguing stories and hidden histories with you that not only reflect our local culture but that of our entire nation: I hope you'll find them as entertaining as they are educational.

Rob was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable about D.C., and its long history and his dad jokes were hilarious. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great way to explore the city and its history behind.

A wonderful tour with a great guide! If you haven't been to DC before, this is a great starting point before you start discovering the region around the National Mall on your own. Highly recommended!

On our visit to DC we wanted to check out the sites along the Mall and didn’t want to do a tour bus, so we booked Rob’s tour. We had a really small group so it was a really engaging experience almost as if it was a private tour. The pace of the tour was nice and easy and we had plenty of time to explore a few of the key monuments. Overall it was a great experience and would highly recommend it for anyone’s future visit to the city.

We had a great time with Rob on our tour! We appreciated his friendliness, great stories, and jokes. If you want a good overview of the dozens of monuments in DC, this is a great overview in just a couple of hours. Plus, you get in some great exercise at the same time! I would highly recommend this experience!

Rob was a great tour guide! We had originally planned to do a night Monumental History Hike. Rob was kind enough to give us options when a family wanted to expand their guest list. He asked if it was okay to add more or we could switch to Sunday morning. We decided to switch our time to Sunday and I'm so glad we did. Rob sent us a list of ideas for parking and I appreciate the photo for our meet up place. We showed up an hour early to find parking but still messed that up and we were 10 minutes late. Rob was kind enough to hang around the area so we could join the hike. It was funny to see the other 5 guests waving at us to join them on the hill. We were afraid of the pace of a 2.5hr tour but Rob make it a fun a leisurely walk. The pauses at each spot to allow us time to explore was so nice, too. Fun, engaging and informative! We highly recommend this hike and well worth the $$.
