What you'll do

Dive into the Olive Oil & Wine tradition in Split. Visit my family farm, learn about the ancient process to produce olive oil and wine and try the best bites of our gastronomy. It is a true Dalmatian story FROM FARM TO TABLE.

You will be guests at my family property that we own since 1537 located just next to the old fortress of Klis (GoT Meereen City), to see the beautiful nature, olive groves, vineyards and orchards. I will explain to you how much effort and patience you need to make oil and wine produce from olives and grapes. I am pleased to share my knowledge, passion and tradition that extends through my family story.

At farm also you can enjoy in presence of domestic animals as chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs. Collect chicken eggs or feed the rabbits to fell as a real farmer.

Then we go to the tavern where I'll explain how the remains of grapes produce schnapps. You will have the opportunity to see the old tools for farming, old wooden wine barrels, old style fireplace, brick oven and etc.

After that all we need is to enjoy in homemade products such as vine, schnapps, smoked meat, olive oil, cheese and breathtaking views in intimate small group in complete privacy.
Other things to note
Please let me know in advance if you are vegetarian or if you don't eat pork so I can adjust to your needs.
In case of rain we will be in house on dry spot enjoying food and drinks.

Hosting is my passion and thanks to Airbnb I am sharing this passion since 2013. Since April 2017 I started to host experience at my family farm. Thanks to my family, I am passionate about nature and natural products. I learned to appreciate the agriculture and labor of my ancestors, who gave their heart and soul to produce an exceptionally traditional products flavored with love. Under the sun of the Mediterranean and the shelter of the mountain, our soil gives unforgettable flavors and fragrances transformed into olive oil, wine and schnapps. The best way to truly discover the tradition and culture of the Split region as it once was, in an indigenous environment, untouched nature and the beauty of the landscape!

Where you'll be

Starting our jurney at meeting point near narrow city center we will take an 20 minute ride to escape city crowds. We will visit a spring of the Jadro River that supplies the city of Split with clean and drinkable water. During hot summer days we can seek for refreshment in knee high water . After that we are visiting my farm that is located on the slopes of the mountain Mosor providing amazing views over valley, fortress Klis and city of Split.

Enjoyed my afternoon with Marin. He is very informative and knowledgeable about the area, history and his family farm. A pleasure to spend time with. The farm is very interesting and the wine, cheese, olives and meats are delicious. I highly recommend this tour with Marin. You’ll be glad you went along.

It was a really fun experience. Got to know a lot of Olive and Grape farming. Also the traditional way of making wine and spirits.

Marin’s ‘All about Olive Oil and Wine’ experience was a fantastic day out that far exceeded our expectations. From the moment that he picked us up at our accommodation, Marin was a warm and entertaining host. Showing us around his picturesque farm, perched high in the hills overlooking Split, and a stone’s throw from Klis fortress, Marin gave us a fascinating insight into both the history of the area and the challenges of farming in Croatia today. After the tour, Marin welcomed us into his family’s kitchen for a feast of the farm’s produce - cheese, nuts, olives, bread, olive oils, wine and a huge assortment of cured meats - delicious! We had a great afternoon on the farm and felt it offered terrific value for money. Highly recommended!

We're so glad that we decided to book the opportunity to see Marin's farm. Marin was incredibly friendly and educational. We were also fortunate enough to have made new friends over Marin's exquisite food and wine, which were all products of the farm. All of this while watching the sunset over the city. This was not a "touristy" experience, but a glimpse into what life here has been for a farming family for hundreds of years. If you have any interest in learning about this beautiful place (if you're here then you probably do), don't think about it, just do it. You wont regret it.
