Online experience hosted by Ricardo

What you'll do

What does coffee mean to you in one word? For us, it is CONNECTION, but our previous guests also told us: energy, health, home, identity, family, friendship, joy, excitement.

Coffee means so much to us, but how much do we know about the art of making a great cup of coffee?

In this experience we will master the skill of preparing Turkish coffee - the mother of all coffees in the world. Turkish coffee turned into a staple around the world. UNESCO included it in its immaterial patrimonium.

But what is it about Turkish coffee that makes it so special? It is about the attention to detail, the tools that we use, the quality of the ingredients and most importantly, the precision of the steps that we need to follow to get an amazing cup of coffee. Don’t worry, the internet recipes might seem overwhelming and imprecise, but we will make it simple.

We will understand the science behind our flavor preferences, we will explore our creativity and co-create a new coffee recipe. Afterwards, sky is the limit in the way you play with your senses and ingredients. You will be amazed to find out what you are capable of.

I have the feeling that no one reads up to here, if you did please send me a message on instagram @ricardo_lopez_nacif and I will send you a free Barista Handbook to take your coffee skills to the next level.

Elena here,

I am globe trotter and coffee lover.

The past 6 years traveling the world taught me that no matter our gender, race or religion we are all the same in the way we love and share our humanity. The kindness in our eyes is universal.

4 years ago I founded an experience company in Lisbon. I learned back then a new way of traveling, not going to new places, but allowing people to bring me their stories.

The whole journey was fascinating. Story after story, around the world and at my home of choice, Lisbon, I realized that there are more things that bring us together than the ones that set us apart.

As a coffee lover, it was comforting to find that no matter where I went in the world, there was always a cup of coffee waiting for me. And I got curious and started to explore what it was about coffee that connects us so deeply?

This was a fun experience, and being in the kitchen with Elena was a joy! She gave a clear and concise history of coffee and I learned a lot about how to make one of the oldest coffee styles still around today. Not only that, but Elena had a rare insight into how to evaluate flavor that goes beyond coffee. This is a nice sensory hour of the day that I will use again and again. Thank you, Elena!
