Estonian Craft Beer Tasting & History

Tallinn, Estonia

Experience hosted by Martin

  1. 2 hours
  2. Hosted in English and Estonian

What you'll do

We will taste 7 different types of Estonian craft beer while learning about the styles, history & tradition of making it.
We will go over the brewing process, watch some quick illustrative videos and have a chat in a relaxed private tasting room around massive oak tables.
You get to know what goes inside the beer other than water, why is India Pale Ale called like that or where is the worlds oldest running brewery.
While talking about beer Ill throw in some local jokes & test your level of sensitivity. We locals have a pretty dark sense of humour.
Im always open for suggesting best craft beer bars, specialty beer shops or places to eat great gourmet burgers or local cuisines.
The 2 hour beer tasting session will go by so fast you wonna stay there for longer. Now you are advanced into a local beer expert & need to go practice around Tallinn oldtown & brag to your friends that you know what IPA stands for.
Other things to note
This is defenitely not a pub crawl or something generic any of you could do in a loud bar.
Its a private event in ambiet tasting room specially prepared for bigger groups or lovely couples to enjoy the selection of best local craft beers not big brewery beers. There wont be any snacks!

When I was hired as a "Beer Spy" 13 years ago I discovered the liquid world of craft beer. This was the perfect job for a freshman in the university. Got paid in "liquid assets". I was trained as a sommelier & started sneaking around bars or restaurants secretly rating the quality of beer & service. Then I stumbeled upon american ales & british porters. Wow those beers are actually tasty. From then on I tried to copy every great beer I had drank & homebrewed over 300 batches of beer. 5 years later I realised im a bit lazy & focused on just drinking the beers. Once I had tried most of the local new beers I had to travel to new countries to keep my thirst satisfied. By now I traveled over 30 different countries, hundreds of bars & breweries loosing count after 2000 beers tasted. Its your time to experience local craft & get to know Estonia

Honestly… YES! Martin is super knowledgeable about the beers and is a great storyteller re: history, flavor profiles, breweries, everything. The tasting is quite professional and is equipped with palette cleansing crackers, water, good jokes, games, and little brain teasers. Highly recommended experience!
