What you'll do

We will literally get down to earth, get centered and throw some mud. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty and explore the depth of your creative spirit. Our master potter will demonstrate the mesmerizing process of throwing a basic cylinder on the wheel. Then its your turn to get your hands into the clay and create your own masterpiece. Anything you want to keep will be trimmed, bisque fired, glazed and glaze fired by our master potter's and made available for you to pick up at a later date (3-6 weeks). After you have created your masterpieces, the last 15 minutes of class will be for clean-up. If you want to use all your time creating, for a small fee, the teacher will do the clean-up for you, just ask.

*Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can start on time. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the demonstration and won't give you the time you will want to create.

*For a private group or team session at a date and time of your choice, please send me a message.
Other things to note
Children are welcome with an adult guarding registered and participating in the same class.

Very fun one-time clay class that's suitable for people of all experience levels. I took a 6-week intro to ceramics class a few years ago, but have forgotten a lot of the small technical details, so the demo was a great refresher. Timing of the class: - 30 minutes of intro/demo - 1h20 minutes to make pots - 20 minutes to clean up Overall I would definitely do this again with friends who have never tried throwing on a wheel before. Some pros/cons + Candace was very helpful/knowledgeable/patient/encouraging! + Basically unlimited clay to work with, and you can make a many pieces as you want in the time. At the end, you pick which 3 pieces are your fav that you'd want to have trimmed/fired/glazed. + Got to play around with multiple types of clay to feel the differences in texture/malleability. + Candace wedged all the clay for us, saving us lots of arm strength and time to spend on the wheel. + Small group setting (6 of us total) - Session could have been ~30 minutes longer so that we'd have a full 2 hours to work on our pieces. - Would have liked some options for final glaze colors. It seems like it's up to whoever is doing the glazing, and it's either green or white. It would have been nice to be able to pick out a few or at least share some preferences, e.g. neutrals or blues, etc.

Fantastic experience. Definitely a must do. Not difficult for beginners. Katey is a wonderful instructor and she is so talented. She was available for any questions anyone had. Was happy to help even if it was a repetition. She made us feel very comfortable. I would love to go back.

We booked a private session for five. It was a good introduction to pottery and throwing clay. However, it could have been better if we had more interaction and input with our instructor. Maybe COVID had something to do with it but it was never mentioned during our session.

If you want the opportunity to try something new, this is for you. Pottery takes practice but everyone has to start somewhere. Highly recommend.

Victor was such a patient and kind instructor, made my daughter feel comfortable when she was worried she was going horribly and was the only kid in the class. They include lots of clay so you have a chance to practice on the first I'll talk to you make and get better as the class progresses.
