What you'll do

Enjoy a walk through the scenic Georgetown neighborhood with a former CIA officer. Learn about the role the residents here played in the WWII era. These pre- and post- war influencers played friend and foe alike to the Soviets. Learn more about the origins of the CIA, and the life of an operative shared through curated (and unclassified) real-life stories. We'll visit the former homes of William "Wild Bill" Donovan, William Colby, Roald Dahl, and Alger Hiss and see places linked to the espionage activities of Elizabeth Bentley, and Vitaly Yurchenko.

Along the way, participants will be asked to put on their spy hats and consider the role of surveillance in an operative's daily life.

Where you'll be

This 1.5 hr walking tour begins in northwest Georgetown and crosses over Wisconsin Ave. to northeast Georgetown and then south towards M Street. We spend most of the tour away from the hustle and bustle of Wisconsin Ave. and M Street, in quieter neighborhoods that have remained timeless. Please note we will end at Martin's Tavern on Wisconsin, away from the starting point.

Phenomenal tour!! Led by a recently retired operative, so you hear the real deal about both modern and historical figures, methods, etc., we all enjoyed the tour so much, we kept the tour guide late AND all stayed talking to the other people on the tour for 15 more minutes! Highly recommend!

Interesting spy stories from an experienced agent that bring to life Georgetown's history of World War II and Cold War espionage. Great complement to the International Spy Museum.

This was an instructive and fun experience. We got to walk around Georgetown - which it’s in itself a treat - and learn about the historical adventures that this beautiful neighborhood was a background for. Our host was knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend to anyone. We loved it!

A terrific experience! Rosanna is the real deal and an engaging guide, and she’s terrific with precocious future secret agents. My daughter was fascinated by the tour and hasn’t stopped talking about it since. Highly recommended!

We had a great time on this tour. It was fascinating to meet an actual former CIA operative. George told us stories of his own as well as stories of well known WWII/Cold war spies and answered all our questions. We recommend this tour!
